I enjoyed it when it came around on TV. Don't know how well the humour will cross the Atlantic, but good for those on the east side at least.

IMDB Entry

I hadn't heard of "The Trip". I generally prefer to hear Coogan, rather than watching him, but it looks like a possibility.

"The Trip" movie is a cut down version of an entire UK TV series.

I am a big fan of Simon Pegg but I haven't seen that one yet. I'll have to add it to the Netflix queue.

It was one of the funniest movies for Pegg because he played is very straight throughout. He had almost no funny lines but his facial reactions were priceless.

By the way, if you have not seen Hot Fuzz, the writing, especially the last half hour, lives up to the surreal standard set by Shaun of The Dead.

"The Trip" series is, if not a direct sequel, a sort of companion piece to the earlier movie
" Tristram Shandy: A Cock and Bull Story (2005)".

which polarised critics and viewers into 'love it or hate it' positions.

Both need to be viewed in the context of Brit comedians Coogan & Brydon's
long established high profile tabloid / paparazzi media personas.

So it's interesting how well the humour carries to a USA audience ?

Can't speak for the Yanks, but it plays well in Canada and since a LARGE number of Yanks are only separated from us by a border, I expect the same.

Love it... and Caine.

Hot Fuzz is one of the funniest films ever. Bill Bailey's role is priceelss and anything will Bill Nighey in is worth seeing. Simon Pegg, as said before, is an absolute star, as is Martin Freeman.

Cheers

I saw both yesterday. April 5 2012 They were easily the two funniest films I have seen in the past for or five years. Carol and I laughed out loud many times and had to rewind several times in each movie to repeat what we had missed while laughing.

The movies could hardly have been more different but they had Coogan in common. ,
