The Johbson Girls will be in Camden, Maine over the Labor Day weekend. They'll be doing an evening concert Sunday 9/3 followed by a pub session. So if you're in the neighborhood of the home of the Maine Schooner fleet drop by. Don't know the name of the venues yet but Camden's the type of quint place that if they're singing you'll be sure to hear them.

I wish I was in the vicinity of the Camden schooner fleet! Have fun.

By the way, we just saw the "Prairie Home Companion Movie," which featured a fictional duo called the Johnson Girls. In the credits it said, "Thanks to the Johnson Girls for the use of their name." Could that be our Johnson Girls?

Of course no one here knows where in Camden this special event will be taking place. It's a lovely coastal town to prowl around, up and down Bay St. It might be at the Public Libary or one of the many churches, or one of the lovely pubs such as Gilberts.

Cheerily,
Charley Noble

I'm guessing they'll be a part of the Camden Windjammer Weekend, an annual event. Here's the web page - doesn't mention the Johnson Girls specifically, but says there are "Sea Music workshops" at 2 PM on Sunday...

Sounds like a fun festival - I wish I could go just for the Chowder Challenge!

Most likely that means the Johnson Girls will be performing at the Sunday evening Harbor Concert and maybe at the Sunday afternoon workshops as well.

Another group The Jolly Rogues, from Massachusetts, is listed on the Sunday evening schedule.

Charley Noble

Hi Jeri
I can't really tell ya the story, it's theirs for the telling (besides I mess these type of things up). I can tell ya that they were invited to the opening night & some one of them made it on ta red carpet walk & got snuck into the VIP party, met up with & elbowed with the high dreges of holywood & the actors, someone even got to sing for Lily. But you'll have to get the rest from them.

Curse - I'll still be in the UK, celebrating my grandson's birthday. I would have loved to get to this one.
