Will definitely be there, especially as it is my monthly session there from 4pm.

BTW - the following week we have booked Slide to appear at the Sun. Slide are a four piece playing lots of lively tunes and songs that are a mix of Trad and own material - this gig follows the second monthly session of " the session formerly known as Nellies" - run by Pete Dean that afternoon from 2pm.

We are hoping to put on Cara soon when we can fix a date.

Incidentally, Steve has now got his PEL for the pub and is booking larger groups - anyone looking for a booking should contact Steve on 01482 881547 or PM me.

How was gig last Sunday, Rog? Would have popped down but was busy with musicians session at Oddies, which incidentally was a storming success. (to my surprise and relief)

A steady crowd in most of the evening peaking at about 50(following a quiet afternoon I'm told)despite the awful weather so I was quietly pleased. I performed 40 songs between 8.20 and 10.40 with a short break during which Alan played four songs.

Steve was happy with the takings anyway.

Glad the session went well

We enjoyed the beer in the Sun Inn on Saturday, ooh the Old Peculiar, pity we had to return home for work Monday, but this weekend might be different, depends who is left at Whitby

Yes

The beer quality and range is superb at the moment - Old Peculier has now joined the other four regular beers Taylor's Landlord, York Terrier, Black Sheep and Deuchar's IPA(the current champion beer of Britain) together with five regularly changing guest ales from independent brewers. Look out for news of the Cask Marque quality award soon.

Those turning up to perform this Sunday are guaranteed at least one free pint and possibly more!

It may be worth mentioning that the Sun Inn is not listed in the 2003 CAMRA Good Beer Guide due to a technicality - Steve had not been in the pub long enough to qualify on the publication date (same applies to Oddies). Which leaves us with the oddity that Nellies with one beer of indifferent quality is in whereas the Sun with 10 beers of Cask Marque quality is not.

Look out for my "disgusted of Beverley" letter in the next edition of Pub Mirror.

I saw Slide a while a go and thoroughly enjoyed them. Will definitely try to make that one.

I agree with you all, the beer is fantastic at the Sun. Such a shame I'm either always driving or on a diet, but then, probably not!

Can't make your afternoon session Rog on Sunday (27) 'cause I promised to support Paul, my mate, playing at the Spring Head Showcase but am coming this evening for the session/workshop at the Sun.

Saw Slide when the supported Cara the other week - definately worth a listen, some nice original material and some lively tunes.

I won't be able to make the afternoon sesh as am comitted to attending Wooton fiddle club but hope to make the evening.
