Saw two thirds of 'Barfly' (Barf?!?) at Swinton last night - Dave who I know of old, and John. They are running a club at St Lukes social club, Swinton Park Road, Salford 6 (Between Irlams o'th heights and Lancaster Road) on a Thursday night. Lovely room (We had our silver wedding do there) and a good bar. I hope to get there this Thursday and I think support would be appreciated.

"St Luke's Social Club" doesn't appear in yell.com's list of social clubs in Salford; and multimap.com shows St Luke's RC Primary School and St Luke's Presbytery on Swinton Park Road, but no social club. Would appreciate further info so I can publicise the club in Folkal Point.

Not sure why the Social Club aint avertised, Joan. It is the same location as the Church and "St Luke's Presbytery on Swinton Park Road".

Every Thursday. Bar opens 8pm Music starts 8:45. Open Mike / Singaround / Free and Easy. Everyone welcome. Free admission. Anything from the Beatles to the Laughing Policeman and all stages in between!

Hosted by the Barflys (Pete, Dave and Paul). More details from Pete on 0794 653 3824 or email him at [e-mail] The Barflys are a great bunch of guys as well. Good laid back mixture of self penned and covers on accoustic and electric guitars. Ask them for 'Heartbeat' if you get there, a wonder to listen too. ('nuff said..:-) And if anyone wonders whatever became of Joe Martin he is alive, well and turning up there on a regular basis.

St Lukes community centre is on Swinton Park Road. Irlams o'th Heights, Salford 6. Brief directions - Get onto the East Lancs (A580). From the East Lancs turn onto the A5185, Lancaster Road. 200 yds down Lancaster Road there is a mini roundabout. Turn left there onto Swinton Park Road. The community centre is a few hundred yards up there on the right between St Lukes school and St Lukes Church. Or look at the map on the link provided earlier.
