Just over a week to go to this year's festival in Dorset, 11-13 June... more info here
.

The Events section says "Song Sessions all weekend with Derek Burgess, venue TBA" - the venue now arranged is the black wooden hall in the car park of the Allendale Centre(the folk club is in the main building). You can purchase drinks from the Allendale Centre bar, or bring your own,

Hope to see some of you there (and watch others dance!)

Kitty

Not going this year, but always a brilliant festival. Hope the sun shines and the Allendale is as buzzing as ever ...

Just to clarify - the song sessions will be in the Allandale venue on Friday and Sunday as well as Saturday, and not in Church House.

Well, I'll be there, with Bourne River. I don't sing, but I'll be at the ceilidhs.

Hi

Does anybody know where the instrumental sessions will be held? Last time I went, they were in the British Legion and the Conservative Club but I understand the Con Club has now closed down.

I'm assuming the British Legion will still be available but it would be helpful to have alternative venues for a few tunes. So many of the pubs have gone so commercial and ticketed I've noticed in previous years.

Thanks :-)

"So many of the pubs have gone so commercial "

Well, the Albion hasn't gone commercial - it's gone up in smoke!

I was going to the Sunday session with the great Derek Burgess but I have now been offered a booking to look after grandchildren. My agent, Mrs Slade, has accepted the grandkids gig so sorry I will be absent.
To all my fans who will be sorely disapointed, please go and support the gig. The wonderful Terry McDonald will be there.

WS - sorry you can't make it, but we do understand about grandkids gigs.... at last year's festival Derek's granddaughters requested my shopaholic's song twice in the same session!

Thanks to everyone who came and sang at the song sessions this weekend, and to the Wimborne Minster Cine and Video club for the use of their clubroom. What a smashing little venue for singing in. And big thanks too to Brian, Maria, Les and Linda for organising the festival and to all the artists and dance teams who made it such a brilliant weekend. It didn't even rain until I was halfway home...!

It was a sunny, dry weekend and good for dancing. I discovered that you can buy Dorset flags from the Tourist Information Office in a variety of sizes.

A good weekend. Don't know if the organisers look in here, but all thanks to them once more.

Hi Malcolm
Glad you enjoyed it! A really fantastic weekend of music song and dance!
I was a steward and will mention your post to Les and Linda Wild (two of the organisers). It's always great to have feedback. Thanks.
