Just received this e-mail from Liam Robinson. Thought it important to post on Mudcat, as I think a few might be intending to go.

Unfortunately, the management at Greyfriars Gallery have postponed Wednesdays Lincolnshire Concert due to what they term poor advanced ticket sales.
Many apologies to anyone planning to go. The event is now to be rescheduled for September.

Mmmmmmm! What sell-out event are the Greyfriars putting on in its place that evening? I bet the answer is 'Nowt'. Isn't some income better than no income?

I'd have been there, but I didn't feel the need to book in advance. Many of the Folk-Persuasion don't book in advance, they just turn up on the night. They must be Arch-Faint-Hearts at the Greyfriars Gallery!

PS - if the Gainsborough Folk Festival was run/not run on the basis of advance ticket sales, it would probably never have got off the ground. However, we've always had the faith and courage to go ahead. If we can take a header on a full weekend, why couldn't The Greyfriars Gallery have the balls to take a small risk on one evening?

Get it off yer chest M8. You could of course book advance tickets for Bob Fox at MRFC on Aug 27th, if not just take yer chance on the night. Might let you sing instead :-)

I think that they run the risk of losing the confidence of the artists and general public by doing what they did. It will always be from now on - will it or won't it?

And of course the crying shame is that they've cheated those of us who would have gone out of an opportunity to hear fine Lincolnshire artists like Brian Dawson and Liam Robinson. There should be a law against it (as me old, long-departed mum used to say) :0)
