Tried to refresh the previous thread with no success at all.

Our fliers are out now, and the line-up does look good (though I say so myself), so if you're not on the mailing list and you'd like to have a look at one, let me know. Call me on 01457-870391.

PS In case you didn't know, Saddleworth is on the moors on the edge of Yorkshire, and the Festival is July 18-20.

Hi Ali, any fund-raising events planned 'round the area in the near future?

And if anyone's goin to one or all of the 'Open Door' Extravaganza 4 (22nd - 23rd March, Bull's Head, Failsworth...plug...plug) sessions, flyers could be distributed there (sure Pauline won't mind).

Let's get something clear, there is no such place as Saddleworth. The Festival itself, despite what the organiser says, takes place in Uppermill, which is now part of Oldham in the modern "county" of Greater Manchester. It was formerly part of Lancashire. The poor girl is misguided and deluded, she may be the Chair of a damned fine festival but her geographical knowledge is sadly wanting.
As a Lancastrian Missionary working for the past 20 years in the dark, nether regions of Yorkshire I fel I speak with some considerable authority.

I din't say there was anything wrong with living in Huddersfield, it's just the poor misguided delusion that it is preferable to living in God's County, The County Palatine of Lancashire, that intrigues me

All I can say is that Richard Hankinson's granny says that Uppermill is in the West Riding of Yorkshire, always was and always wiil be, and we all know that grannies are NEVER wrong. Oh, by the way he's the squire of Saddleworth Morris Men.
I'd also like to point out that it never rains in Saddleworth, it's liquid sunshine which even gives bare metal a suntan.
Looking forward to the festival it gets better every year.

I know it's hard for some Yorkies to comprehend, but God, very cleverly, put a very large boundary betwixt the Glorious County Palatine of Lancashire and the muck tub ridings. We call it the Pennines, you may have notice this range of rather large hills and Uppermill is firmly situated on the Lancashire side. Dare I suggest that Granny has had one Gin too many. Furthermore who would believe one who claims to be a the Squire of a Morris team from a ficticious place.

Rabbitt, it's a joke love. The banter between Lancastrians and Yorkshire folk sometimes is designed expressly to exclude those poor unfortunate souls who, by accident of birth, don't hail from the two major counties of England.
As you rightly say, Ali, Geoff, Hilary, Jo, Peter, and all the other people involved in the organisation of the festival do a wonderful job, one for which I am very very grateful, but that doesn't stop me taking the shine out of the poor deluded chair, who in her misguided dotage cannot recognise the truth of history !!
Look forward to seeeing you at the do at the Wheel Golcar on the 15th March, the first beer is on me.

Vince - (What's your real name please?) - we do have fundraisers in April and May - a Lancashire Night, an evening with John Howarth (Oldham Tinkers) and friends, and a Comedy Night with Keith Donnelly and his Worship and the Pig. Plus our famous Car Treasure Hunt - not for the faint hearted!!

Yes, it's definitely my last festival - this time. As Raggytash says so nicely, I'm almost in my dotage and need to take things easier - more Jamiesons and less work.

Sue, I nearly didn't recognise the Festival from your description - I don't want Jim suing me for misrepresentation!!

Yes Noddy - we are having a Hiring Fair at the Festival from 3 - 6 on Saturday - actually, I think it's been over full for some time, so the need is definitely there!

Got to go now - I'm off to the London Palladium with my little grandson to see Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.
