Hey,

a few things to mention:

27th Jan - Linda Ross is putting on Keiren Halpin at the Keel, John Platt and Dave B amongst the supports. Dave has got some tickets - email me at barnsley folk club for his number.Email us

3rd Feb - The Silverdogs are at the Polish Social Club in Barnsley - Folk Rockish. The electric violin player, Mark Knight (ex- Blue Horses) is one of the best I've seen

12th Feb - Bernie Parry at the Shaw

Easter Weekend - Annual Easter Singaroud (6th - 8th April) at the Shaw

Further details on the website http://www.sandlizard.f9.co.uk/barnsleyfolk

James Cannon came on Monday looking for a fiddle player for his band;
"Fiddle Player needed urgently for Irish Folk Band - Playing Dubliners/Pogues material, Gigs Booked for Feb/ March and European Gigs later in Year - Contact James Cannon- email me at barnsley folk club for his number"Email us

2006 was cracking year for the club, we had as booked guests -Steve Tilston, Judy Cook, FYRISH, McFolk, John Conoly, James Meadows, Zoe Bottomley, Leon O'Doherty, Donal O'Connor, Dave Webber and Anni Fentiman, Maurice Condie and Gillian Tolfrey, not forgetting the Dick Gaughan ell out at the Keel;

Loads of people were 'just passing' (too many to mention, but including Mary Humphries and Anahata and a rare folk club performance from a well known songwriter), The pre-club music session is still going from strength to strength, and we had a couple of special events - the Easter Singaround, a showcase at Dirty O'Dwyers in Barnsley town cente on the Summer Solstice and a charity night-part of the nationally organised OXJAM, which raised £115 for Oxfam.

Thanks for you support over 2006, looking forward to 2007,

Sarah
BFC

They didn't play today because of the FA Cup, but they're playing QPR at Oakwell on Tuesday. Should be a close match, as both teams are struggling at the foot of the table and will be desperate for the points.

Nope! I'm TT. Diet Coke for me please.

Actually I must confess I only went because a distant cousin of mine used to play for Barnsley - Eric Winstanley - and I used to go to post-match parties. Sadly, to go to the party Eric made me watch the game. This usually involved feeling bored, cold and fairly detached from the proceedings.

Eric Winstanley was a Barnsley fc legend and I am not know as football fan!

He was a defender I believe and played hundreds of times for Barnsley
