Many of you here remember folksinger Al Grierson, the crown prince mythopoet Buddhist hobo trickster singer scribe whose unforgettable songs were filled with history, heartache, mythology, observation and wanderlust. Al left behind two incredible albums, "Things That Never Added Up To Me" and "A Candle For Durruti" before he caught the westbound twenty years ago in a Texas flood.

Both albums are out of print and have been impossible to find for many years. Now the albums are streaming and downloadable at https://AlGrierson.bandcamp.com with the lyrics available too.

Plus there is a NEW Al Grierson album coming out in May too. "The Petals" is a just compiled album of Al singing a baker's dozen of previously unreleased songs. It will be released mid-MAy as downloadable files and as a limited run physical CD. The CD will preorderable soon via Al’s Bandcamp page and the proceeds go to Al’s two daughters, his legacy to them.

To preorder a physical copy of The Petals CD, you can message me at fortheroses2021@gmail.com. If you are a facebookian, there is a public Al Grierson Fan Club page you can join too. Pictures and memories are welcome. Please share this news with all friends and fans of Al’s.

Al used to close his emails "For the Roses",

Al died 25 years ago this month.

I know of four songs written for him:
Jack Hardy, "The Ghost of Grierson," on Hardy's website
David Rovics, "Song for Al Grierson," on his album Ten Thousand Miles Away
Chuck Brodsky, "Al's Ashes and Me," on his album Color Came One Day
Jack Williams, "In the Texas Sky," on his album Walkin' Dreams

Thinking of Al today
