Subject: Lyr Req: The made match From: GUEST,Julia L Date: 28 Dec 25 - 08:37 PM Looking for other exetended versions of this song, (not "Never Wed and Old Man" This seems to have a more desperate or sinister flavor) The Made Match Eileen Finnemore of Portland, Maine. Recorded November 4, 1941 by Eloise Linscott Shut the door, dear Nanny, and don't let Samuel in For as sure as he comes there's an end to my life, For he never will have the pleasure of calling me his wife. Cruel they were, my parents, as you may understand Marrying me to an old gray man for the sake of money and land, But he never will have the pleasure of calling me his wife. |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: The made match From: Reinhard Date: 29 Dec 25 - 06:27 AM Roud 43568. The Roud Index has only one more example, "Right Now Is the Need of Time" from Effie Grand of Seaford, Delaware, but the Library of Congress page for this has only a scan of an index card cataloguing the version. |
