Subject: Rackinsack Waltz From: Kim C Date: 23 Mar 00 - 11:12 AM Does anyone know where I can get a copy of Rackinsack (sometimes Rackinsac) Waltz, which was often paired with Arkansas Traveler (as in The Arkansas Traveler and Rackinsack Waltz)? Have looked everywhere I know to look, to no avail. Thanks! |

Subject: RE: Tune Req: Rackinsack Waltz From: Amos Date: 23 Mar 00 - 11:19 AM I know a song called "Goin Down to Rackensack" but it isn't a Waltz. It asserts in an introductory few measures of narrative that Rackesack was the original name of Arkansas, but I never did find out if that was a historical fact or no. The tune is similar in temp and scale to the Arkansas Traveler. The final couplet and chorus goes: "I'm goin' down to Rackensack, Whackfoldiddleiddle-ay And if I find that girl I'm never comin' back Whackfoldiddleiddle-ay Get outta the way, Fiddler, Outta the way the Fiddler, Outta the way, the Fiddler man, Way down in Rackensack" Don't know if this has any bearing on your request, please ignore if not...
