The song is probably from the 19th cent., certainly before 1847 and the title, alternately may derive from the the first line of the chorus, the fist line of the song or otherwise.

All I could find was that perhaps it is a line from Thomas Hood's poem, "Autumn". I couldn't find the poem on line, but it has been set to music........HELP!!
