Maybe I'm out of touch, but apparently a movie of Johnny Cash's early career (to 1968) is in the works, reportedly with Johnny and June's full support and including their original music. It's slated for realse in Fall 2004.

I confess I'm a bit perplexed by the cast. Even at 5'7", I can see Joaquin Phoenix (To Die For, Gladiator, Quills as Johnny. He's a done some great acting work in the past. But I just don't see this *pair* together as the 1st family of country music. And I really don't see Witherspoon as June. Really, I don't.

Er... and Phoenix will be singing, too. That either takes some real guts or a huge ego.

Anyone heard any buzz? Anyone think Witherspoon is up to the task?

I hadn't heard about this at all but I do like Joaquin Phoenix:>)
I think he looks pretty good in the photograph but it remains to be seen as to how he comes across as Mr Cash!
Reese Witherspoon though...strange choice for June Carter. I can't see it either but.......
Thank you for posting about it, Ill keep my eyes and ears open.
The Director of the film has a work in progress, a Biopic of Bob Dylan due out in the near future it seems.
