AGNES MARY F DUCLATJX was known as a writer under her maiden name of Mary F Robinson 1857 - 1944. This English poet and critic was born in Leamington She was educated at University College, London, devoting herself mostly to the study of Greek literature. Her first volume of poetry, "A Handful of' Honeysuckle", was published in 1879.
The qualities of Mary Robinson's work,their conciseness and purity of expression, were only gradually recognized. Her Collected Poems, Lyrical and Narrative were published in 1902.....

This short bleak mournful but very elegant poem by her has a beautiful flow to it that defies the slight incongruity of the final line.....heres the link to the page where you can listen online to this sound poem set to music..

Pallor

The great white lillies in the grass
Are pallid as the smile of death
For they remember still---alas!--
The graves they sprang from underneath.

The angels up in the heavens are pale---
For all have died, when all is said;
Nor shall the lutes of Eden avail
To let them dream that they are not dead
