Subject: Newport Nostalgia on Internet Radio From: PoppaGator Date: 16 Aug 04 - 11:08 AM This week's installment of Nick Spitzer's "American Routes" radio program celebrates the fiftieth anniversary of the Newport Jazz Festival with a retrospective of both the Newport Jazz and Folk Festivals. The first hour of the show covers the jazz event and the second hour provides folk festival highlights, mostly from the event's heyday in the 60s. I should have posted this earlier, since most stations airing the syndicated show have already broadcast it over the past weekend. However, there are a few outlets with webcasting capabilities that schedule "American Routes" on Monday or Tuesday. For more info, see http://www.americanroutes.com Click "Stations Where You Can Hear Us" at the upper right for a complete list. For the complete playlist of this week's show, go to http://www.americanroutes.com/thisweek.html and click on "see the play list." Some webcasting outlets that haven't aired the show yet: wumb.org (Boston) Monday 7pm Eastern (6pm Central) kzum.org (nebraska) Monday 10am central (oops -- almost too late. You can still catch the folkie 2d hour, tough.) alaska.net/~kchu Tuesday 1pm alaska time (?) www.cod.edu/wdcb (chicago) Monday 7pm central Tuesday 10 pm Note that US Eastern Time is Greenwich Mean Time minus 5, Central is minus 6. I'm not sure about Alaska time -- probably GMT -9 (Pacific Time -1). Of course, if you're in the US, you might find a non-internet station where you can hear this. However, *most* affilated stations have already broadcast the show on Saturday or Sunday. I listened last night, and it eas great. Will probably tune in once or twice again. |

Subject: RE: Newport Nostalgia on Internet Radio From: GUEST,former Newporter Date: 16 Aug 04 - 11:16 AM Rats! I turned off the radio to early yesterday and missed the folk portion. Used to go to the folk festival every year. Was back in the old home town in May and it sure felt good to be there. Now I'm thinking about the good times we had at the festivals. Thanks for the memory jogger. |
