AN EVENING OF TRADITIONAL MUSIC [ & Buffet Supper ]

A Tribute to MARY MULHOLLAND

The Skerry Inn, Newtowncrommelin, Co Antrim

Sunday 30th April 8.30pm

Proceeds to 'MARIE CURIE FOUNDATION'

Everyone Welcome Admission - only £3

I'd like to tell you about a concert you don't want to miss, if you enjoy a good night of traditional music & live within striking distance of Ballymena, Co. Antrim.

The concert is taking place this coming Sunday night, April 30th, in The Skerry Inn, up in Newtowncrommelin, in the hills of Antrim above Ballymena.
It is billed as an evening of Traditional Music & a Buffet Supper, and is a tribute to a wonderful musician, Mary Mulholland, who was one of the regular musicians in the Skerry Inn sessions for many, many years.
The concert is scheduled to start at 8.30pm and the proceeds are for the Marie Curie Foundation, which is another good reason for you to attend, and admission is only £3.

Mary was a wonderful Piano player and played with many groups and musicians during her long, illustrious career, including the Dawn Ceili Band, the Emeraldaires, with whom she recorded many radio programmes, and the Pride of Erin Ceili Band who she played with from 1961 until they retired from playing in 1985.
The Pride of Erin Ceili Band actually won the All Ireland title twice, in 1983 and 1985 and they held the Ulster Cup for a total of 22 years!
Thankfully, Mary's great playing was recorded on many LPs too over the years, including an LP 'Music of the Champions' with Brendan McGlinchey, 'The Wind that Shakes the Barley' with Co. Antrim's great Fiddler, Jim McKillop, 'Reels & Jigs' with that renowned Sligo Flute player Seamus Tansey, 'Cherish the Ladies' with Kathleen Smyth and Peg McGrath, plus many more, too numerous to mention here.

On this great occasion many fine musicians will be gathering to remember Mary, both her warm, bubbly personality and her great musicianship, and as well as a more formal concert part of the evening, all musicians who attend will get an opportunity to play a few tunes at the sessions which are sure to round off the night in fine style.

A plaque is to be unveiled, on the night, which will be forever on the wall in Mary's corner of the bar, beside the piano.
