Subject: J. Browne/P. Seeger fundraiser NY From: Margaret V Date: 22 May 06 - 10:37 PM Jackson Browne is performing in a series of four "private musical parties" in New York to help raise funds for the election campaign of John Hall. He'll be joined by Pete Seeger for the show that's in my neck of the woods and by Dar Williams for three of the shows. Hall is an excellent candidate running for U.S. Congress in NY's 19th Assembly District. (He was also a founding member of that band Orleans--remember "Dance With Me" and "Still the One"?--and is an anti-nuclear activist, which explains his connections with musical personalities like Jackson Browne and Pete Seeger.) He's running against an incumbent who potrays herself as a moderate but has a voting record that aligns with Bush about 85% of the time. But first he needs to win the Democratic primary in September, so he's doing some fundraising. Tickets aren't cheap, but it would no doubt be a pretty neat experience if you're a fan of any of the above and have the dough.
