Subject: Mike Harding Folk Show From: GUEST,I Don't Know Date: 24 Oct 17 - 03:29 PM Sorry to hear Mike Harding has ended his Folk show on the internet. Thank you for providing a good mixed show Mike. it will be missed. |
Subject: RE: Mike Harding Folk Show From: Dave Hanson Date: 24 Oct 17 - 03:33 PM It was without doubt the best folk music programme broadcast in GB for many years, sorry to see it go. Dave H |
Subject: RE: Mike Harding Folk Show From: DaveRo Date: 24 Oct 17 - 03:48 PM Bugger. That leaves a big gap in my week's listening. There are 252 archived shows and they'll be available for 10 months at least: http://www.mikehardingfolkshow.com/podcast-archive/ Many thanks, Mike. |
Subject: RE: Mike Harding Folk Show From: Marje Date: 25 Oct 17 - 03:52 AM I know this sounds daft, but how do I get these podcasts to play? No matter what buttons I press, I can't get any sound, or get the soundtrack bar to start moving across the screen. I don't particularly want to download them, and anyway I can't see how to do that either without using Facebook. How do I just listen? Marje |
Subject: RE: Mike Harding Folk Show From: Mr Red Date: 25 Oct 17 - 04:07 AM Well it is playing right now. It did take a while to start. There are three podcast possibilities. iTunes requires the pain of registering, not sure about Podomatic. Click Mixcloud and try the upload button. Maybe there is a copyright problem. Mike must pay PRS & MCPS but I suspect only in the UK. iTune is world wide but maybe they have country categories. |
Subject: RE: Mike Harding Folk Show From: DaveRo Date: 25 Oct 17 - 12:18 PM I can't get it to play (this in an Android tablet) from Mike's own page at the moment - though I've played it from there before. Try the podomatic links, they work for me - after a short delay: http://mhfs.podomatic.com/ |
Subject: RE: Mike Harding Folk Show From: Marje Date: 25 Oct 17 - 12:46 PM Thank you, Dave, mine is also an Android tablet and your link works for me. Problem solved! Marje |
Subject: RE: Mike Harding Folk Show From: GUEST Date: 25 Oct 17 - 09:03 PM Why did he stop? so sad |
Subject: RE: Mike Harding Folk Show From: Mr Red Date: 26 Oct 17 - 03:33 AM His voice sounds older now. Maybe he has reached a point. It used to take me 2-4 hours to record a one hour programme. I can imagine the kind of research he would need to put a fresh, current programme together. It probably took a week of intermittent phone calls, e-mails etc. I could well understand if he has decided to slow down. |
Subject: RE: Mike Harding Folk Show From: DaveRo Date: 26 Oct 17 - 11:23 AM Recently he's often mentioned spending time with his grandchildren. Maybe he wanted to do more of that and less time doing the show. I know I would. |
Subject: RE: Mike Harding Folk Show From: DaveRo Date: 07 Jan 18 - 04:16 PM Rather like the hotline from North to South Korea, uk.music.folk has just spluttered into life. Here is the post: I haven't seen it mentioned here but Mike released a new podcast on 24 December. His regular broadcasts ended 22 October last year. Almost all of the episodes are still available for download but may not be available indefinitely.http://www.mikehardingfolkshow.com/category/podcasts/ I'd better reinstate the feed |
Subject: RE: Mike Harding Folk Show From: Steve Gardham Date: 07 Jan 18 - 05:49 PM My youngest son will be gutted. I totally understand if it's to spend more time with grandchildren. |
Subject: RE: Mike Harding Folk Show From: DaveRo Date: 17 Mar 18 - 03:37 AM My feedreader springs to life and tells me of two more shows: RSS_feed MHFS_254 Mon, 26 Feb 2018 MHFS_255 Fri, 16 Mar 2018 This is encouraging, Maybe Mike just wanted to get off the treadmill. Maybe he's snowed in in his shed! |
Subject: RE: Mike Harding Folk Show From: FreddyHeadey Date: 29 Sep 18 - 04:14 PM ..... HE'S STILL GOING ..... On his website there is currently no suggestion of closing up. He's making a two-hour show every month "or so". On the September show just released he spent a bare minute mentioning ongoing costs and wondering if folks might chip in a bit. http://www.mikehardingfolkshow.com podcast list http://www.mikehardingfolkshow.com/podcast-archive/ The Twitter page https://mobile.twitter.com/MHFolkShow posts links to the latest show on Mixcloud. Subject: RE: Mike Harding Folk Show From: Reinhard Date: 02 Dec 20 - 05:13 AM Are you sure it's not Ian Anderson's podcast? It starts with Sloe Benga ;-) |
Subject: RE: Mike Harding Folk Show From: GUEST,Ray Date: 02 Dec 20 - 10:07 AM I can confirm that MH's latest podcast, No.287, was released yesterday. |
Subject: RE: Mike Harding Folk Show From: DaveRo Date: 05 Sep 22 - 03:48 AM Mike's latest podcast is available: https://mikehardingfolkshow.com/podcast-308/ If, like me, you normally download it using the download symbol under the built in player, and find that no longer works (it may work in Windows) try this link: https://mhfs.podomatic.com/rss2.xml If you open that xml file in a browser it should offer a webpage with a link 'download' to an mp3 file. That's what I get in Firefox but it depends on your browser; it may pass it to an RSS feed reader if you have one. If you end up downloading the xml file itself, look in it for an item like this: <enclosure url="https://sphinx.acast.com/p/open/s/62d6b92ad0dbce0012705cf9/e/6313fd620b44560012b8d03c/media.mp3" length="135296612" type="audio/mpeg"/> |
