It's one of those addiction things. My other 'arf has been bitten by the Appalachian flatfooting bug and is now desperate to find a team/side/group of like-minded individuals (or even an individual teacher) in or around the Bucks and Berks area of the UK.
If anyone knows of any resources, all will be gratefully recieved. Many thanks....
GW

Yes - PM me - assuming you can get it to work. My wife & I maintain the Clogging List whish is the list of UK App. Clogging teams. It's fairly up to date and we ought to be able to find something to help. Was she at Towersey, if so she may have talked to us there.

This is a great thread! for me. If my old brain serves me well - Reading in the Royal County - was the very place where in 1984/5 the American Banjo became the City's latest and greatest revolution, not overtaking Mick Jagger another local product. There were at least two folk bands providing bloggle. Later - 87 I think, there arrived one duet from the west, a genuine US Fiddler and a local lad - gone wrong through the acquisition of a SS Stewart Banjo: whenandwerever they played folks wanted to dance so later - muuuch later - other oh I am hacked - ok - better bands arose and so began the great invasion of 'Jiggle Dancin' also known in the local millieuxs - Appalasian and Ozark Mtns as 'Chigger Stomping'.

Happy then am I to learn that the seed of Pete Seger's books' students' miss thumbing hath borne cloggie fruit in the city of Cook kooo - and the Doe which fartheth!

Yup, Sara would be good if that's the area, her 'team' (Oracle) is a teenagers team but she does teach adults on (currently) a non-team basis.

Other links to UK teams in general - well those that I know have a web site - can be found at the links page of www.bluefields.org.uk

Gervase, if PM-ing gives problems there's an email link on the Bluefields site.

Gervase - what about Haddenham Hoofers? They're good, and good fun (and Lonnie Donegan is a fan of theirs since he saw them at Sidmouth last year!).

Kitty, depends where exactly Gervase (and, of course his wife) live. If he PMs me I'll try and find his (her) nearest team. If the PM doesn't work I'll put an email here in suitably 'expanded' form.

Nick (on behalf of the Clogging List)

Many thanks for messages and PMs. I fear I may be about to become cuckolded by a hard wooden floor and a fiddle!

Yes, but it's worth it to keep them happy!

And better a fiddle than a banjo (OOOPS did I really say that!). If you need any oldtime music influence to help check out FOAOTMAD (Friends of American Old Time Music and Dance), UK based enthusiasts, web site at www.pillard.demon.co.uk/foaotmad

There is a new team in London Colney, just south of St Albans "Tappalachian"

Practice on Wednesday evenings at the White Lion .

Hadenham Hoofers are based in Haddenham, Bucks, between Aylesbury and Thame, and rehearse on Thursday evenings

Also there are Monthly classes on Saturday mornings in Pirton, starting in late September, Teacher is Kerry Fletcher.

Also a new Monthly Monday class starting in Pirton on 8th September (possibly)

Mail me if you want details of any of these Oldtimetim@ntlworld.com.
