Subject: Fairbridge Fest. W. Australia 24-27 April From: quokka Date: 14 Apr 08 - 08:24 AM Hi all, just wondering if any Mudcatters are going to the Fairbridge Folk Festival? Love this forum, very interesting discussions on various topics, esp. folk music and musicians. Line-up at FFF is Kieran Halpin, Rory McLeod plus many Australian performers. Look forward to hearing from any West Australian Mudcatters. Went to the Nannup Festival last month...very good festival in South West of WA. |

Subject: RE: Fairbridge Folk Festival West Australia From: quokka Date: 15 Apr 08 - 07:59 AM Welcome, Tangles...Sandra from Sydney is calling us Ozcatters so the animal references continue. For those who don't know, sandgroper is the term for West Australians. |

Subject: RE: Fairbridge Folk Festival West Australia From: Sandra in Sydney Date: 15 Apr 08 - 09:17 AM every year (except this cos one Rowan beat me to it!) I start a thread about Ozcatters meeting at the National So, if/when you sandgropers head east one Easter we can meet you. One year, when my sister comes back to Freo (whenever that is as John has just started his third 5-year posting) |I'll head west again & visit Fairbridge & whatever other folkie stuff I can. That includes Morris dancing as I have friends in Black Joak & love watching Morris dancing. sandra pics of Oz, UK & UScatters & Black Joak here |

Subject: RE: Fairbridge Folk Festival West Australia From: Notferjo Date: 15 Apr 08 - 10:22 AM Hi quokka See, you just have to ask and some WA 'catters come out of the wood. Yes! I'll be at Fairbridge. Always a great festival. Bill S - See you at the late night song sessions in the Loft and PPM dances. Any chance of a sword dance session? There will probably be a set of interested folks if you are game. But, the festival programme is full on - there may be too many distractions and not enough time!! NFJ |

Subject: RE: Fairbridge Folk Festival West Australia From: quokka Date: 06 Oct 08 - 01:16 AM This very talented musician, Gavin Fernie, will shortly be releasing his debut CD 'The Back Room'. Playing here as 'Miltown' at Fairbridge '08, with two other very talented guys here, Ormonde Waters and Dougal Adams, the CD is a mix of trad folk and contemporary songs. Enjoy! Subject: RE: Fairbridge Folk Festival West Australia From: Bugsy Date: 27 Apr 11 - 08:17 PM I won't be making it down to Fairbridge this year, we're both working all weekend. I will be going to the Top End Folk Festival in Alice on Queens birthday long weekend (june 10 - 13). Look forward to catching up with NT Catters and any WA Catters that can make it. Have a great festival! Cheers Bugsy. ps, a bit of shameless self promotion, I'm doing a spot at Mundaring Folk and Blues Club on Friday May 20th. If you're there, come and say hello. Cheers All. |

Subject: RE: Fairbridge Folk Festival West Australia From: quokka Date: 01 May 11 - 06:36 AM Got back this afternoon, it was brilliant. The Good Lovelies from Canada, The Go Set from Melbourne, Mike Compton from Missisippi and Andy Irvine were my highlights. Too many more to mention but was an awsome weekend. Oh and Kim Churchill from NSW was unbelievable... on his own with an acoustic guitar and a harmonica, and managed to sound like a full band! And the Gospel Sing in the Chapel this morning !!! Amazing. Can't wait for next year |
|
Subject: RE: Fairbridge Folk Festival West Australia From: Bugsy Date: 01 May 11 - 10:40 PM Now I'm jealous! I heard that there was a power cut on Saturday, but that it just added to the atmosphere of the festival. Cheers Bugsy |
