Subject: Banned on 2 sites...going for 3 From: Donuel Date: 22 Oct 01 - 09:55 PM click here If seen in the light that a healthy heart is a good thing and a diseased heart is something altogether different this should painting should not be hated for its title.
The necrotic crescent is a serpant upon a satanic pedestal. Its star in mid air is a magnification of anthrax spores. The suicidal haters fly into the diseased symbol of Islam and the city while the spectre of death looms in the sky. |

Sincerely,
Perhaps, a one hour retreave function, would keep some of us from "burning our bridges." It is nice to know there are "LifeGuards" out there. |

Subject: RE: BS: Banned on 2 sites...going for 3 From: Liz the Squeak Date: 23 Oct 01 - 01:18 AM Interesting pictures. Possibly only people who prefer abstract or surreal would appreciate them. I'm into Dali, so almost anything appeals. It may be that your timing for the title was off... anything that is seen as an incentive to riot is being squashed at the moment.... interesting compositions though. LTS |
Subject: RE: BS: Banned on 2 sites...going for 3 From: Clinton Hammond Date: 23 Oct 01 - 02:42 AM 'Nice'??? "Interesting" is less offensive when concerning art, but even that... is... ummm... weak... wishywashy... I may not know much about art, but I know bad criticis/commentary when I see it! LOL!!!!! I will however question art that has to be explained by the artist, element by element... No faith in your audience? No faith in yourself, lacking the ability to let go and have people see what they see in your art? You doupt your ability to get your point across? Personally, I think the pic is heavy handed, borish, and unsubtil... if that's what you were going for, congradulations! ;-) |
Subject: RE: BS: Banned on 2 sites...going for 3 From: catspaw49 Date: 23 Oct 01 - 06:56 AM CH, don't make me regress man. It took years for me to learn to say "Interesting" instead of "What the fuck???" and it keeps my wife a lot happier when we're out in public. Spaw |

Glad the Cat cans erve as a haven, Don.... we won't ban you unless you post too many songs without linebreaks!! Regards, A.

Subject: RE: BS: Banned on 2 sites...going for 3 From: Donuel Date: 23 Oct 01 - 08:58 AM Thanks for the comments and helping the html challenged across the street. Clint, I will leave having faith in mankind up to you, I don't have much of that at the moment. As for really heavy handed stuff you would like my political cartoons. You might find my water colors more subtle. I have little regard for artists that subtle themselves into obilivion or the guys still trying to outdo Piccasso or Matisse in their hackneyed twisted forms. I do like Magritte, Dali and Parrish to this day. |
Subject: RE: BS: Banned on 2 sites...going for 3 From: Donuel Date: 23 Oct 01 - 09:01 AM As for taxidermy, after drilling the neck bones of a real rattlesnake head to fit upon a violin scroll - never again. |
Subject: RE: BS: Banned on 2 sites...going for 3 From: Steve in Idaho Date: 23 Oct 01 - 10:51 AM I thought it was pretty good work. I am not one who would buy this type of art, but then I struggle to take pictures with a camera, but certainly didn't find it offensive. Steve |
Subject: RE: BS: Banned on 2 sites...going for 3 From: Donuel Date: 24 Oct 01 - 06:31 AM (RP) These times should concentrate the mind. Panic that disables action should be overcome. Hiding from reality of real possibilities should be overcome. In a chaotic episode you must tend to yourself. You can not expect any relief or to be taken care of for 1 - 6 months. Do the terrorists/Taliban/Iraq/... have the ultimate bio weapons? YES they demonstrated their use of ebola (Criemean Hemmorragic fever) against a Northern Afghani settlement 24 days ago. The isolated town had over 100 fatalities. IT was a demonstration but not recognized as such by media. We are as a public being prepped by the media to cope with small pox. This is not a cruel hoax by our Government but the most likely scenario they dread.
The everything is fine attitude is a disservice to all but little children. If it is panic that will empty cities when a plague descends or common sense is for each of you to decide. Is it patriotic to try and save your life? Of course. Depending on your job whether you stay or go is a personal choice. Unless CDC blockades make certain egress difficult there will be few safe areas but none so dangerous as the cities.
An isolated small pox attack has been simulated by our military and it resulted in a 1,000,000 fatalities. This has been known since 1995 yet preparedness or defense against such scenarios is virtually ZERO. We instead kept playing with star wars.
Folk wisdom says its better to be safe than sorry. If you can't be completly safe at least you can be a bit prepared. There are things you can do. If binary bio weapons, small pox and plague are used 10 -60 million casualties are anticipated - you may well be served with notions of reincarnation. ~ *G* The anthrax letter campaign is a soabox derby compared to the Indy 500 of bio war with the agents mentioned above.

Subject: RE: BS: Banned on 2 sites...going for 3 From: GUEST,Sam Pirt Date: 24 Oct 01 - 08:44 AM An interesting picture and an even more interesting title. To be honest I think that the title is a casualty of the current world situation and an attempt at 'Shock'. I say this because of the thread title 'Banned on 2 sites..going for a third' This shows you know what you are doing and want to 'shock people'. This could be because you want people to think about what is going on, and rightly so. If this works it is a success. For me though there is nothing I can relate to in the art work. The picture is well done and but is quite dark and evil and the title is also this. And looks like a decaying moon. To be honest I was expecting something completely opposite from the title, like a worn out childs toy etc.. What I am saying is that the art of 'shock' I think lies not just in the title but in the title and artwork. The picture felt to impersonal and the title made me feel the artist had tried to hard to shock me, which made me dismiss it. Listen I have gone in to depth about its first impressions on me but don't get me wrong its a good picture just watch the old 'shock' tactics. Oh and I wouldn't ban it!! Cheers, Sam |
