Anybody go to this festival in Lancashire, England? We'd love to here your comments, criticisms and suggestions either here or on the website.

hiya , yes we went , friday saturday and sunday , we camped on the rugby field across the road ,

what a lovely atmosphere , the weather was kind of course
the snecklifter was tasty

one fault , food ran out really on sunday , and no light in the other ladies toilet , minor complaints ,

and the music , i am a folk newbie so dont expect any wise comments. I rally enjoyed the music Marie Little , Anthony John Clarke and The Houghton weavers of course professional and very entertaining , i enjoyed all the performers i saw but would travel to see malt loaf again , george sorry i cant spell your name has songs that are written on unusual and thought inspiring subjects.
and the young fiddle player was awe inspiring in his youth .

i didnt join in the late night singarounds but my neighbour thouroughly ejoyed them into the small wee hours ;)

Yup - I was there on the Saturday. A warm and informal atmosphere... excellent!

Thought that fellow with the beard and accordion was very good...! ;o)

The other ladies toilet -- there is a mystery. Sandra discovered the other toilets round the back of the building on Monday morning. Clearly you found them over the weekend. The mystery is I can't find anyone from the club who knew about them. We've been involved 4 years and never even imagined there were more toilets and showers round the back.

Ten out of ten for exploration, zero for us for not even knowing they were there. We had wondered what the other keys on bunch were for!

Next year we will clean them and make sure there is a light.

The pub already has some ideas for food service next year, if they come to fruition we will tell you nearer the time. whatever happens we will make sure they don't run out of food!

Was that the well built chap who played concertina and guitar as well. Even put his hand to the flute in the singaround. What a talented chap, anagrams, jokes and stories as well. Should have written some contact details down for him, we might want to put him on again.

Just looked at the list of artists, we've got him down as Mad Tor Cranberry. Do you know him :-)

Erm... my accordion has a beard, Martin, because it's forever ripping lumps out whilst I'm playing. I'm just grateful I'm not a naturist... mind you, so are a great many people!

The really sad thing is I had to resort to an anagram server on the internet after 10 mins of trying and not succeeding to get Mad Tor Cranberry. It also came up with Cornbread Martyr, which is a great title for a song about Mad Tor Cranberry, or is it Bronc Marry Dater.

Hmmm... there was a lurcher there... looked a bit like an overgrown hairy whippet...

The star of the festival was, undoubtedly, Elvis - an ovewrweight golden labrador who joined in wherever possible. He particularly seemed taken with my accordion...!

Nethen... a certain melodeon virtuoso on this thread has a dodgy embellishment technique, revealed in his anagram...

There is a whippet club meets at the Alison Arms, not sure were they race, GUEST must have inside information to know the venues of the secretive world of whippet racing.

Be interesting to hear what the whippets make of Elvis, as a labrador he might be overweight but he has a beautiful melodious howl. Elvis is picky about his music and he knows what he likes. He was particularly fond of Bernard Cromarty, George Papavgeris and Ken Nicol; there was a heavy hint of a trend there until Ken Nicol. He didn't take to Jez Lowe or Marie Little, perhaps some bias against a North East accent.

Elvis is very sophisticated in matters of accent. He certainly heard a County Durham edge to the Salfordian accent. I know, he told me himself.
