Subject: Isambarde in Leek 1st March 2008 From: mandotim Date: 20 Jan 08 - 02:51 AM Hi all! There will be a bit of a do at the Wilkes Head, 16 St Edward Street, Leek, Staffordshire, ST13 5DS on the 1st and 2nd March 2008. Big heated marquee and stage/p.a. in the yard, and acoustic sessions in the pub all weekend. Great beer from Whim Ales, among others. The pub is well known for its atmosphere and great craic. There will be a 'young musicians and singers' session in the bottom room of the pub too. Concert on the Saturday night (entry around £2.50) featuring showcased talent and (topping the bill) the utterly wonderful Isambarde! Anyone who has been to the summer 'do's' at the Wilkes; this is less 'rocky' and much more folky. No drumkit, small p.a, not using the big stage, and an acoustic sort of feel. Hope to see you there. Subject: RE: Isambarde in Leek 1st March 2008 From: mandotim Date: 25 Jan 08 - 10:20 AM Hi Mr Happy! If ever there was a leading question....but seriously; I don't think there is anywhere within walking distance, as it's a town centre pub. There are a number of caravan sites out of town on the Buxton road, but I'm not sure if they do camping. It would be nice to see you and the fiends though; it's going to be a right good do I think. I'll have a scout round and see what I can come up with. Tim |

Subject: RE: Isambarde in Leek 1st March 2008 From: mandotim Date: 07 Feb 08 - 05:17 AM A bit more info; entry fee to the concert in the marquee on Saturday night will be £3. (Was going to be less, but the heaters and fuel cost more than we thought.) There will probably be a bonfire/brazier sort of thing elsewhere in the yard as well, for those who like a campfire sing. Most of the music will be unplugged, with various combinations of musicians and singers, plus Isambarde of course. Guests will include Jazz Geoff, who is a legend in the area; the funniest accountant on the planet. Hope to see you there. Tim |

Subject: RE: Isambarde in Leek 1st March 2008 From: mandotim Date: 14 Feb 08 - 06:13 AM Just a refresh; this should be a cracking weekend, hope the weather is kind! For those with other interests; Leek is a centre for the antiques trade, has more real ale pubs per square mile than just about anywhere, and is the gateway for some great walks in the Staffordshire Moorlands and the White Peak. Hope to see you there. Tim |
