Subject: RE: Thanks Mudcat Folks From: Sleepy Rosie Date: 01 Dec 08 - 02:12 PM As a newb to the site and to singing folk song in general, I've experienced a great deal of friendly camraderie and some really detailed and valuable advice here. I've made some excellent contacts online in the past on different lists for different interests. But I've found this site, is unusually embracing and interesting. It's intelligent, sometimes very funny, and kinda pastoral. There are no doubt some interpersonal squabbles, but overall the differences of opinion seem to be managed with good humour and intelligence. A very difficult thing to sustain on any forum, especially one with such high volume postings from everywhere, and one that allows words like fuck, shit, errr, do I dare the 'c' word.. heh, nah. You get the drift. Not only onlist, but in particular I've also had some superb unexpected detailed advice, friendly banter and offers of real-world support via PM's from several of the regulars here. A very entertaining, informative and embracing online community. Coolio. Hope to flesh out some of the onlist ID's in the not too distant. |
Subject: RE: Thanks Mudcat Folks From: Georgiansilver Date: 01 Dec 08 - 02:23 PM This forum has been a great source of Folk musical knowledge for me and I enjoy a bit of BS too.. I would like to personally thank all those involved in keeping it running, also encourage them in the censoring which I believe they do sensitively and adequately. Best wishes, Mike. |

Subject: RE: Thanks Mudcat Folks From: Tim Leaning Date: 02 Dec 08 - 02:34 AM I have met loads of decent honest music lovers through Mudcat Like GEorgian Silver. He is a realy nice guy(if sexest),and not stingy withhis support and kind words to some of us lesser performers either. And do you know if you go to Gainsbro FC or Faldingworth live you can meet him amd Backwoodsman and sooz and villan and....... TA. Mudcat is a great idea. |
Subject: RE: Thanks Mudcat Folks From: BusyBee Paul Date: 02 Dec 08 - 06:50 AM Oi! Tim! Who'd you forget?! And yes, I too feel bereft when the Mudcat is sleeping. Deirdre |
Subject: RE: Thanks Mudcat Folks From: Rowan Date: 02 Dec 08 - 05:09 PM I'll drink to that! Yesterday I received my copy of Keith McKenry's new book "Australia's lost folk songs" and was pleased to see among the list of those who'd helped him by tracking down info was "the patrons of Mudcat Cafe". Cheers, Rowan |
