I guess there is freedom to object as well as freedom to post..'police' are ones who can DO something...but anyone can point out something obnoxious and give their opinion. You wouldn't want to censor them, would you?

Care to explain what you're talking about, Guest? I'm the one around here who's usually the one responsible for changing thread names - the JoeClones aren't able to do it. I deleted some HTML tags from a thread name yesterday - that's not allowed. I've added to thread names to make them more clear, or corrected spelling to make it easier to search for a thread. And yes, every once in a great while (like maybe a total of one time), I might change a thread name if it looks like an open invitation to a flame war. You'll find the message title in the first message is unchanged - you can find it by using "Forum Search" in QuickLinks. I suppose I might be more likely to change a thread name than I would be to change or delete a message - the thread names are on the forum menu, which everybody who uses Mudcat is forced to see. If there's a thread name that's racist, obscene, or a personal attack - you can be sure I'll change it.

If you've got a complaint, be specific. Otherwise, I have to say I don't know what the hell you're talking about, and that makes it very difficult for me to explain what I did.

Shall we sign a petition in the thread, Mary, to ask that the thread title be changed? I know usually Joe or Max won't do that without the request of the original poster and I know the whole thing was done with heavy irony, but it is an ugly thing to see and I think it could be better named.

Before anyone has a cow and starts yelling about censorship or amending...I am only asking, not demanding and I do think this us is a rather unique case.

How about it, Joe, Max, if enough of us sign on here and ask that it be changed, would you oblige?

And it was an old member who posted the thread title you had to change because of the HTML no-no. They done forgot about that title biz and I know they aren't mad..............'Cause it was me! I'm still wondering about our guest's contention that we have Gestapo who control thread names. Was he complaining about something I did, or just about Kat's suggestion that I change a thread name? I guess we'll never know.

Looks like I was offline just long enough to avoid yet enough pissing contest here. As has already been said, if we just ignore them, they eventually go away.
Joe , Keep up the good work. I'm usually around often enough that I'd notice if threads were suddenly being altered. Hell, the Joeclones even left the collosal "Don't Post..." thread go and leave us to "police" it by having enough sense to quit posting on it.
