I'll be there .... as Abuwood well knows.

Come and join me Under the Bridge to dance or play for Herbaceous Border 5.30 - 7 on Sat and Sun. Thats PM! (The 5.30AM bit will be at Castle Hill, Laxton in Notts on Thursday with Rattlejag morris)

And if you know anyone who'd really like to sing 'solo' but hasn't quite managed it yet - or perhaps has, but still struggles - do encourage them to come along to the workshops I'm running on the Sat & Sun morning. (Not quite sure exactly when and where but look in the fringe flyer - or maybe even the programme.)

Think there's going to be plenty of singarounds & stuff. How about a bit of info, Ali?

First Song workshop in the Museum - a new venue,it's by the pepperpot.. 10-11am Saturday, 2nd workshop 2pm Sunday followed by Mme EPNS famous spoons workshop.

Friday's gathering place for unacomp singists is in the White Lion - it's too small to have instruments in there as well, so we need to start it off early and fill the seats with bodies and not cases...

There's a concert and a cieligh also on Friday and the programme says music session in the Talbot but that has changed to the Swan - English session stuff head for the Swan or their barn ; and you'll find Accoustic Collective in the Muggery warming thing up in there.

Thanks for pointing me to this thread, Guru, but I couldn't find it in the Mudcat search, which makes me think it really isn't very good at all. Why can't we just put random words connected with the item we are looking for, and it pop up? The old search didn't find it, the forum search didn't find it..... come on Joe, other sites can do it.

Yes i'll be there as per.

I would just like to add that I don't get a free ticket for this fest and can't see why I should have one as I trade in the street. Just to link you with this thread

Oh and the pitch fee is very reasonable here.

See you all there, if you want a lemonade it's half price to catters if you can prove it! "I am a mudcat, here's my prooof, and I claim my half price lemonade"

Hurrah!! Latest info on the programmed Surprise MudGather is that it's from 1pm in the Muggery on the Saturday. It's a bit late in the day for publicising it here (and I don't want to be singing in there on my own as it's usually a musicians session) so I'll put an end time of 2.30pm on it unless we're all having a Fab time and can carry on.

As the MudCat will be down most of next week (due to Max's move) could everyone please spread the word to likely Catters and help me keep this thread up at the top please?

So, Saturday, Muggery 1-2.30pm - who's coming??

Apparently the Shellbacks don't finish on the main stage till some time after 1.00 and we're back on at the Swan Barn at 2.30, but I dare say one or two might make it all the way up the High Street and back in our lunch break. :-)

You will need your camping wristband to get on to the site - which if you have not had it in the post will be at the caravan.
I know this is really inconvenient and we'll try and do something about it for next year!
If you find Upton main street blocked by a car and caravan it's only us getting out tickets...Steve hasn't learned how to reverse the thing yet!

Hi all

VERY sad - the side has decided they wanted to try something new this year so Crouch Vale with Russ and I will be in Hastings for the weekend (first outing with a caravan!...........Oh life with a small person! I thought I'd NEVER leave the big green slug that is our tent......we'll have to carry it around still so that the entire side, most of our mates AND the car can all get parked in there of an evening!.................not to mention that it gave a cosy home to Mr Scarecrow and Russ on one memorable occasion ;-)).

Anyway, say Hi to Upton, it'll be the first time I've missed it for years and years and years - eat lots of Diddy Dans for me. Love to see all of you soon. We'd like to make Fox and Hounds but things are going to be a bit mad shortly 'coz Russ is about to open his own brewery!!!..........more about that later xxxxx

Alie xx

Check at the caravan (or if you see me around) for correct Herbaceous Border times! I shall try to sort it out as soon as possible. I was told the ceilidh was 4.30 to 5.30 and we are planning on dancing straight after that. (on both Sat & Sun)

Am off to dance in the May early tomorrow & then going to Upton so won't get any messages (even if Max gets mudcatup & running again quickly)

The singing workshops (which I'm running) are for people new to singing solo - not those who've never opened their mouth to sing ever anywhere even in the shower.

I'm going to pop up to the camp site to say hello to everyone. I won't have a wrist band cos Wolfy and I are staying in B & B this year in Longdon. Down memory lane for me. The Plough B & B was a working pub when I was 17 and living in Longdon. I trained as a riding instructor at a stables opposite the Drum and Monkey. The stables are now holiday accommodation! Ha the stories I could tell about the horses that lived there first.

Just returned from a lovely lovely weekend. Went to sing arounds, played a few tunes and went to a couple of brilliant concerts. When you go to concerts with unknown (to me)guests on the bill you are never quite sure what to expect, but both Sunday night and this afternoon all guests were very good and very entertaining. Oh and we watched some dancing too. All in all a good time was had by all (well Andy and I, can't speak for others but I am sure they did).

AND.......... We managed to avoid the rain.

It was an interesting wkend. Not so many morris sides, i thought. Not many people in general; in the streets or on the campsite. Andy Scarf's stag do was fun, expecially when Bill Pullen did his lemon squeezing blues but didn't realise a. i was standing behind him, and b. he doesn't know that i sell lemonade!!

The beer was outrageously expensive in the Kings Head but a better price at the Star. Their upstairs sing/sesh was wonderful (i hear, i didn't go) and went on till 1am. Their beer was a much better price i'm told. Lots of comments about plugged v unplugged, and festival ticket prices (other threads). The White Lion singarounds went well in general (thanks to all for compliments on my singing) but the one on Sunday night finished too early (10.30) probably because of flack from the locals.

I didn't sell very many lemonades. Was it because I put my price up to £1.20? I sold 200 fewer than last year. Just thought I'd share that with the group. It was lovely meeting you Cats and thanks Robbie for the chocolate (Lizzie brought it to me). I had some lovely conversations with Bonecruncher too.

Yes, sharing the songs with Catherine was a special high point for me too. Richard did a video of one of the songs which he will be posting to the family so that Catherine has a lasting memory to watch!

For me Upton was about meeting friends and sharing song. Managed to see Ned & Patti in concert & finally got to do a spoons workshop, but another high point was the impromptu Sing in the Star on Sunday night. Lovely!

And of course the MudGather! I'd been so worried that it wouldn't work in the Muggery, but there were so many of you who came to support it that was just Fab! *Thank You* I even met 3 Catters I'd not met before *grin* I'll post the Register when I get home tomorrow after my carpel tunnel operation. You'll need to read it slowly as I'll have typed it one-handed *teehee*

dare I bring a note of negativity in?

Dancing on carpet and blisters! Fri only but if it weren't for the Compeed it could have been one-legged hornpipes.
Otherwise it was the usual laid-back relax we have come to love.

Have to say the Banana Band were good but the Organ Grinders have got better in the 10 or so years since last seen, superb for dancing this year.

I was there but didn't have venue tickets, just camping. Played guitar in a nice session on Sunday night on the decking at the star with Pete Grasby and a few others. There was a fantastic Irish session in the Kings head one night, Fiddle, tenor banjo a guy on a mando/cello and the most amazing irish box player I have ever seen - anyone know who he was?

Hello my guru!
I would love to be Gazza but unfortunately he was taken so it's the bridesmaid position for me- unless Gazza has given up in which case I'll happily step into his shoes.
Gazza2

Great session - only sorry I couldn't stay longer. Pablo was in the Muggery too - what a terrific voice. And, now I know why Mr & Mrs Scarecrow are who they say they are. I didn't realise we were going to *eat* the chocolate. For some reason I thought we were going to rub it over each other like symbolic Glastonbury mud. Perhaps next year ...

Yes indeed, what a great voice! I'd already put Gene Burton on the register as that is a registered name, so it looks like Gene has a dual registration as Pablo. It would be best if Gene could contact Joe Offer & whittle himself down to one identity here, perhaps someone could let him know?

BTW it is possible to just change your registered name here if you decide to, just adjust it in the membership pages and all your previous posts will show your new registered name!

Silas, another amongst us I either haven't met or realised your identity! Went past your Sunday evening session on the decking on the way to the fabulous sing upstairs at the Swan, you all seemed to be enjoying yourselves!

badgerbiker & gazza2, I'll attempt to remember not to ask you about it again, but knowing my memory I bet I will *grin*

Hope everyone's having a good weekend! My next festival is Bude & my hand should be on the mend by then hopefully.
