Subject: Cat Concert 17:Simple Pleasures From: bigchuck Date: 05 Mar 01 - 06:35 PM This week's offering is the group Simple Pleasures. This represents my foray into blatant nepotism, I suppose, as my daughter and her husband are 2/3 of the ensemble. They will be doing "A blend of traditional multi-ethnic music and ballads, on fiddle, guitar, mandolin, bouzouki, and pennywhistle". Probably some other stuff as well. At any rate, I enjoy listening to them and I am sure you will do. As usual, the concert will be at 8:00 EST (that's Mudcat Time folks, 5 hours behind GMT)Thursday, March 8 in the PalTalk Mudcat Concert room. Type marmot into the box and you will be magically transported there. Sandy |

Subject: RE: Cat Concert 17:Simple Pleasures From: Midchuck Date: 06 Mar 01 - 09:45 AM These guys are good. Very tight. But their children are Wicked. Peter. |
Subject: RE: Cat Concert 17:Simple Pleasures From: Amergin Date: 06 Mar 01 - 11:57 AM I'm looking forward to it.... |
Subject: RE: Cat Concert 17:Simple Pleasures From: bigchuck Date: 07 Mar 01 - 07:06 AM Deja vu all over again. |
Subject: RE: Cat Concert 17:Simple Pleasures From: bigchuck Date: 07 Mar 01 - 07:36 PM Time for something a bit refreshing. |
Subject: RE: Cat Concert 17:Simple Pleasures From: bigchuck Date: 07 Mar 01 - 08:33 PM As an extra added attraction, I believe the Wicked Children will play some music together for a few minutes before the concert. Unless, of course, they get cold feet. |
Subject: RE: Cat Concert 17:Simple Pleasures From: Musicman Date: 07 Mar 01 - 08:41 PM well, i just peeked in on the rehearsal/sound check, and it sounded great...... worth a listen..... |
Subject: RE: Cat Concert 17:Simple Pleasures From: Naemanson Date: 08 Mar 01 - 10:01 AM I still can't get on to Paltalk. It freezes up and doesn't complete the connection. I have to go into the task manager to shut down the program. I have tried deleting it and installing a new down load but that hasn't helped. Any suggestions? |
Subject: RE: Cat Concert 17:Simple Pleasures From: GUEST,Bigchuck Date: 08 Mar 01 - 02:19 PM Have you asked Jon or the help forum yet? I've heard of a few others having a similar problem, but I don't know if anyone has resolved it yet. |
Subject: RE: Cat Concert 17:Simple Pleasures From: SINSULL Date: 08 Mar 01 - 02:32 PM I deleted Paltalk and re-installed it. Problems gone. But then I was visited by the ad from hell from Hearme. Every 30 seconds whenever I was on Paltalk I would get a message preceded by a loud "BOOONNNNG" telling me to upgrade Hearme. I had deleted Hearme but some folder remained tucked away on my hard drive. Took a month to finally search it out and kill it. Are we in Shaker or Amish mode tonight? Will wear my little white cap and tack up a picture of Harrison Ford. A little white wine, some sharp cheddar...all set! |
Subject: RE: Cat Concert 17:Simple Pleasures From: Inukshuk Date: 08 Mar 01 - 05:46 PM I just picked up a special order of eight cases of Stoney's Beer from the local L.C.B.O. I'm all set for the concert! |
Subject: RE: Cat Concert 17:Simple Pleasures From: Liz the Squeak Date: 08 Mar 01 - 05:57 PM Alas, pleasurable they may be, simple they surely are, early enough for the UK'ers who have to work tomorrow? Nada. Sorry chaps, been up since 5.00am, need sleep. ~LTS |
Subject: RE: Cat Concert 17:Simple Pleasures From: Jon Freeman Date: 08 Mar 01 - 10:19 PM Shame you couldn't stay up Liz. It was a very enjoyable concert. Jon |
Subject: RE: Cat Concert 17:Simple Pleasures From: Katcina Date: 08 Mar 01 - 11:09 PM Well, my ISP is still doing it's best to give me an ulcer. Stupid thing booted me at 12 minutes before 8 Mudcat time and wouldn't let back on until 4 minutes to 9 M.T.. Even then Pal Talk wouldn't let me on until about 15 after so all I got to do was hear about it not hear it. I'm mad and they know it!! Planned to be there. Wanted to be there. Tried to get there. Hope everyone had a great time that was there!! KatC (Stuck in cyber-OZ) |
Subject: RE: Cat Concert 17:Simple Pleasures From: katlaughing Date: 08 Mar 01 - 11:39 PM I am sorry I missed this. Multitrack flu bug had me abed soundly sleeping when time rolled around. Sleep helped, but I really wanted to HEAR these phoaks. Any chance of an encore performance? Thanks, kat |
Subject: RE: Cat Concert 17:Simple Pleasures From: Amergin Date: 09 Mar 01 - 01:48 AM Hpe you get better soon, Katdarling.....you seem to have been sick alot lately.... I'm sorry I missed it too....I had things that I needed to do....to repeat Katdarling's question: Any chance of them doing it again? |
Subject: RE: Cat Concert 17:Simple Pleasures From: bigchuck Date: 09 Mar 01 - 07:16 AM Having some pull with this group, I could probably prevail on them to to another one fairly soon, if folks want. Could probably arrange for a short concert bey the Wicked Children beforehand again, too. Sandy |
Subject: RE: Cat Concert 17:Simple Pleasures From: Jon Freeman Date: 09 Mar 01 - 07:40 AM Go for it Sandy - I for one would like to hear them again. I particularly enjoyed the number of tunes they played. Jon |
Subject: RE: Cat Concert 17:Simple Pleasures From: Midchuck Date: 09 Mar 01 - 08:08 AM You ought to try bringing them up to your house, your machine being presumptively newer and more powerful than Todds. People should hear them without all the breaking up that we got. "Good, Though." P. |
Subject: RE: Cat Concert 17:Simple Pleasures From: bigchuck Date: 09 Mar 01 - 08:44 AM I'm not convinced that breakup has much to do with the machine itself, particularly after rebooting. I rather suspect rural phone line (and old wiring)and net conditions. Todd's father was not able to get on at all. Maybe we'll try it here next time, although Shelby won't be able to solo on the piano if we do. (that would make her play the flute, which she is quite good at.) We were connected at 42K after the reboot, which should have been OK. |
Subject: RE: Cat Concert 17:Simple Pleasures From: SINSULL Date: 09 Mar 01 - 04:37 PM Beautiful music; beautiful children. I would love to have them back for an encore performance when Paltalk is a bit more cooperative. Now was it "KNIGHTS" or "NIGHTS" in White Satin???? |
Subject: RE: Cat Concert 17:Simple Pleasures From: bigchuck Date: 09 Mar 01 - 07:19 PM Definitely Nights. They took to doing it after I mentioned that I had heard Doc Watson do it in a concert last year. |
Subject: RE: Cat Concert 17:Simple Pleasures From: Liz the Squeak Date: 10 Mar 01 - 02:20 AM How about a Sunday afternoon concert, for you, making it Sunday Evening for us poor baggy eyed Brits? You starting at 4.00 or 5.00pm makes a comfortable 9.00 or 10.00pm for us here, and then everyone can hear. Besides, what else is there to do at 4.00pm on a Sunday afternoon, when has had as many baths as one can sensibly take in an afternoon, and the hands of the clock tick relentlessly on to 4.00pm and one enters the long, dark, teatime of the soul (thank you Doug Adams)..... Subject: RE: Cat Concert 17:Simple Pleasures From: bigchuck Date: 10 Mar 01 - 07:05 AM Good idea Liz. Lets consider it. |
