Subject: RE: Balboa Park CA. Jam for Feb. From: X Date: 03 Feb 03 - 12:33 PM Amos! How you doing? I just checked my PM from Genie about dates and damn! It was yesterday, the 2nd she was wanting to pick. We missed it! Sorry Genie. Some of my picking buddys are into aviation and they would have cancled out anyway due to the shuttle crash. I think Mike the mandolinist even knew a couple of the astronauts. Hugh |
Subject: RE: Balboa Park CA. Jam for Feb. From: Amos Date: 03 Feb 03 - 02:16 PM It was a grim day indeed. There's a beautiful, beautiful field Far away, in a land that is fair... Genie, how's about the 9th? Hugh? A |

Subject: RE: Balboa Park CA. Jam for Feb. From: Genie Date: 03 Feb 03 - 03:14 PM Strange things have been happening to my Mudcat posts all morning, guys! I posted to this thread and it seemed to go through, but it ain't here! In another thread (one of the liner notes threads), I actually posted and re-posted the same note FOUR times -- with it seeming to go through the entire transmission process each time -- before it finally "took!" Here's what I went through the process of posting earlier: Not to worry, Hugh. I'm hoping for a jam on MARCH 2. You guys have three more February weekends to play with (play on). Genie (You're right, though, this last weekend there would've been a kinda somber mood, I think.) |

Subject: RE: Balboa Park CA. Jam for Feb. From: X Date: 09 Feb 03 - 03:54 AM Open Mike: We gather at the "Botanical Garden" (the big lath building) by the "Reflecting Pond." Bring a lawn chair. Hugh |
Subject: RE: Balboa Park CA. Jam for Feb. From: Alice Date: 10 Feb 03 - 12:55 AM I love that botanical garden. I wonder if I will ever get back to San Diego again. |
Subject: RE: Balboa Park CA. Jam for Feb. From: Amos Date: 10 Feb 03 - 09:54 AM Well ALice, let me know -- be glad to put you up if you need a crash pad. The usual merrymaking prevailed, and Paul the bass and fiddle player showed up to add to the fun. We did get moved off our usual greensward because there was a licensed busker on classical (solo) violin over by the bridge nearby and he didn't like our spontaneous mmusic pulling his crowd. So we found anothe rpsot not too far off and made the wlekin ring fromt here. Thanks, Banjoest, Mike, Bart, and Linda for a fine time. We also met a wannabe fiddler who came around shyly just as we were braking up for the day and might be joining our ranks. Hugh, didja get her name and steer her to the Cat? A |
Subject: RE: Balboa Park CA. Jam for Feb. From: Alice Date: 10 Feb 03 - 10:02 AM Amos, what is a "wlekin"? |
Subject: RE: Balboa Park CA. Jam for Feb. From: Amos Date: 10 Feb 03 - 11:22 AM Welkin. Sorry. NOUN: Archaic 1. The vault of heaven; the sky. 2. The upper air. A My thumbs are awfully fat today aren't they?? :>) |
Subject: RE: Balboa Park CA. Jam for Feb. From: X Date: 10 Feb 03 - 12:04 PM She hasn't mailed us yet but when she does I'll tell her where to go.(In a polite way) Hugh |
Subject: RE: Balboa Park CA. Jam for Feb. From: Genie Date: 10 Feb 03 - 10:13 PM Glad the weather was kind to you folks. Rainy Camp was great (not rainy), so though I couldn't be witcha, we NW-ers, including a few Mudcats, were jamming up a storm. Hope we can do a Balboa jam on March 2. Genie |
Subject: RE: Balboa Park CA. Jam for Feb. From: GUEST,The Banjoest Date: 10 Feb 03 - 10:47 PM How about it folks, March 2nd.? It's ok for me. By the way Amos, Liz The Shy Fiddler, she emailed me and I gave her the lowdown. Hugh |
Subject: RE: Balboa Park CA. Jam for Feb. From: Amos Date: 11 Feb 03 - 12:55 AM Great!! Let's hope she'll come along next time. I think March 2d will be good for me but there is a possibility I will be out at 29 Palms testing hardware around then. I will pencil it in and let you know if I get knocked off --but you can always swing a hoot with all that other talent, you don't need me croaking in the background!! BTW the one thing I love best about that session was when that little boy came up and asked for a train song. He was dancing his little toes off to that Rock Island Line. Made my day! That and watching Shy Liz' eyes pop when you lit into that Foggie Mountain Breakdown! :>) A |
Subject: RE: Balboa Park CA. Jam for Feb. From: X Date: 11 Feb 03 - 11:06 AM 29 Palms?...Testing hardware?...Sounds like fun! It was a fun day..even if we got 86ed from out spot. That little boy is still wondering what a "pig iron" is. LOL Hugh |
