I don't know how many of our UK members are resident in Scotland, but I'm looking for a bit of PR on behalf of George Papavgeris, our own El Greko.
We're setting up a 2 week tour of Scotland from 27th January to the 10th February 2007, and at present we have 3 definite bookings, and a couple of tentative enquiries.
If you can put in a good word for George at your local club we'd be immensely grateful. He is as yet an unknown quantity north of the border, but I'm sure once he's done this tour then all will be fine for him regarding future gigs, it's just getting a foot in the door so to speak, that's difficult.
If you can help please PM myself or George and let us know.
Thanks
Giok

A reminder

Getting a copy of the Scottish Folk Directory might be a good idea.

I can also vouch for the quality of George's songwriting and his performance.   I saw him perform at The Getaway and have a copy of his CD which has become one of my favorites. George truly is a spokesperson for our generation - those of us who came of age during the sixties and seventies. If George were performing anywhere near me (hint hint .... planning any US tours?) I would make sure I didn't miss it.

It might be a good idea to put this on the Footstompin' website.

George is a star, a unique style of songwriting performed in his own great, laid-back way. Miss him at your peril you Scots! :-)

Giok, maybe you could get Archie to play a couple of tracks on 'Travelling Folk'?

George gets the women eating out of his hands, that certainly is what happened when he appeared at Market Rasen Folk Club. I will ceratinly have him back again.

He has written some lovely songs.

Support him you Scots

Woops! Forgot to blue clicky the Hootenanny!

I think it was the anxiety of George being Kidnapped By Kelts that did it! ;0)

Damn it George, you're showing up every where but here (New England). Is there a way we can change that. (HINT)
Wish I could be there to hear you but I can afford puddle jump.

Well I can think of a few places to give a call to but I'm not hooked up that well, John. I wouldn't mind giving it a go. Are you his booking guy that I'd need to talk to? Boston & north of there would be a great place to start before he breaks into NYC.

Well I'm helping to do the bookings for this Scottish tour, but it would be best to talk to George himself re a US tour, as I only have the relevant dates for this tour available.
Send him a PM and see what he has to say, I'm sure he'd love to get his foot in the US door.

Try contacting Nick Allmark in Dalguise near Dunkeld. He runs the Friday singaround at the Taybank and sometimes puts on the odd concert at the Dalguise village hall.
He is also running the FREE Festival Day at the Taybank on Saturday Sept 2nd for singer /songwriters and has 20 plus act performing throughout the day.
Should be a great day out!
