Since Friday the 13th means absolutely nothing to me, its falling on Good Friday doesn't thrill me all that much. From: Burke Date: 13 Apr 01 - 10:06 AM Since we are not sure what year the first Good Friday happened on, there is no way of knowing what day of the month it was. 13 being considered unlucky does not just apply to Friday's With Easter itself being a variable day in between March 22 & April 25, Good Friday does not regularly fall on any date, much less the 13th. I found a table of Easters 1900-2089. Easter is on April 15 (Good Friday 13) 8 times in that time period. 1900, 1906, 1979, 1990, 2001, 2063, 2074, 2085. All you superstitious folks can relax now for 62 years & if you're still aroung then, rejoice! :-) |

That's superstition for you! it's supposed to be unlucky to have 13 at dinner, unless one is the main course..... Of course if one is the main course, one won't know HOW many people are at dinner, will one? (sorry, couldn't resist that -- your statement was so deliciously ambiguous -- pun intended!) All you need to know about triskaidekaphobia It's not clear to me if the unlucky 13th at the Last Supper was Jesus or Judas, I've found references to both. The most complete information was in a Smithsonian article I found. Here's the best part.

(fear of the number 13), " by Paul Hoffman in Smithsonian, Feb 1987 v17 p122(9) The idea that numbers are not mere instruments of enumeration but are sacred, perfect, friendly, lucky or evil goes back to antiquity. In the sixth century B.C., Pythagoras … made a religion out of numbers. In numerology, the number 12 has always represented completeness, as in the 12 months of the year, the 12 signs of the zodiac, the 12 hours of the day, the 12 gods of Olympus, the 12 labors of Hercules, the 12 tribes of Israel, the 12 Apostles of Jesus, the 12 days of Christmas and so on. Since 13 exceeds 12 by only one, the number lies just beyond completeness and, hence, is restless to the point of being evil. Friday the 13th is doubly potent because it draws not only on the evil power of the number 13 but on Friday's reputation as a day of bad luck.
