Thought I would mention this. Roger is no self promoter so I will do a little for him.

These sessions are dead important for the survival of live music and Roger's is one of the best examples of this, varied mixture of tunes songs etc.So come on down and do a bit or just have a listen!!!!!

P.s ERM,Yes I'll be there

Mick

We could be forced to drink a lot of free beer this afternoon given that a few people are in Whitby and the weather may keep some others away.

Ossonflags, I do share a certain lodge with a certain retired oil executive who has bought a certain pub. Clearly, I am not without influence when it comes to matter of the art. Emva Cream makes one windy, I have noticed.

This is a great session and so far free of sprouts. See also new session in Hodgsons alternative Tuesdays. Roger aware and may come. Not intended as a rival to any other sessions, just to give someone somewhere to go if they turn up on the wrong Tuesday

2pm it is - Pete's session starts at this time because it is the session formerly known as Nellies which has always started at that time. All the other Sunday sessions, including mine, start at 4pm. Clear? :-)

Roger

Yes, a goodly turnout with more fiddlers than you can shake a stick at. BTW what is the collective noun for fiddlers? a screech, a rosin, a strathspey?

It was lovely day though....4 fiddles, Cello, Bass, whistles Harmonicas, Guitars, Bazouki, madolins, a mandola, and loads of singers. Thanks to all who participated. The stereo version of the Punch Ladle was particularly outstanding. All who witnessed it will understand what I mean! I even managed to stay sober and in control until everyone left....then smallpliers and Nik Nak sat me down and funnelled several pints of cider down my neck and it all went pear shaped for me. Ooops. Oh well, I enjoyed it. Lets do it again soon.

Am thinking of invading the Sun Inn on Sunday 22nd December. Perhaps you might Join me in a Carol or 20?

A great afternoon! real quality stuff. We then ventured to Oddies for a song or two, good stuff again in there. lasted till 9.00pm @ then went back to the sun to see doghouse skiffle, i entered the pub @ it was packed, the band members saw me walk in, and they all pointed at me and said THE HARP MAN, THE HARP MAN, over the PA!!! very embarasing I must say. Doghouse where brilliant, anyone who has not seen them realy should make a point of doing so.

Micca
On Dec 8th there is a session from 4pm - 7pm ish led by Keith. It is slightly less folky than the ones that Pete and I run but it is acoustic and folkies do go and play.

At 8pm that day they have a short church sevice run by the adjacent Beverley Minster and from 9pm I will be peforming solo in my guise as Rocking Roger - I haven't worked out a set yet but intend to start with Waterloo Sunset.

Roger
