In 1971 Pat Shaw wrote English dances to several Dutch songs. These were published in a book called New Wine in Old Bottles.
Are the words to these songs on line anywhere? Preferably in English Translation.
The ones I am looking for particularly (I'm calling the dances tonight) are -
Soet Roosie Root (Sweet Rosie Red)
Meiplanting (Planting the May)
De Haaghse Meij (May in the Hague)

Hi, Mo -
This isn't what you're looking for, but you can find the tunes for two of the songs in ABC and dots at Oude en Nieuwe Hollantse Boerenlieties en Contredansen. Looks like a great resource.
I didn't find lyrics anywhere.

Thanks. I have got the dots, and pat Shaw's dances, I was just curious about the words (and whether the pattern of repeats in the dance e.g. AABBCCBC, followed the song).
I couldn't find lyrics online either. I also asked the ECD list
and got this reply
'The Dutch "songs" in question were in fact piano arrangements of C19 Dutch folk tunes by Julius Röntgen and like many C19 tunes (cf. Morris dances), the words are long forgotten
Antony Heywood (Volksdansvereniging NVS, Holland)'

Not sure about the Morris damces, seem to recollect lots of lyrics to Morris tunes discussed here.
