Subject: Review: Latest Folk Painting Finished From: Richie Date: 17 Apr 11 - 09:13 PM Hi, Just finished my latest painting: Kentucky Dance. I wanted to share it with you. I'm continuing to paint folk music songs and themes. You can see it on my blog (click to enlarge): http://richardmattesonsblog.blogspot.com/ I'm planning to paint a couple songs soon- John Hardy, Frankie and Johnny, Blackest Crow, Fly Around my Pretty Little Miss and Shady Grove. they are not consistent...some L&R, some R and some L... others at one or eleven o-clock.
You have potential.
The subject matter is good. But are yellow trees REALY your focus?

Subject: RE: Review: Latest Folk Painting Finished From: Richie Date: 17 Apr 11 - 10:24 PM Thanks Gargolyle, Yeah, the trees are a bit bright- but then I like bright- haha. The sun (it's overcast- cloudy) is overhead to the right so the shadows should be below and to the left. I lightened up the porch shadows so you could see the pickers. This is psuedo-realism, it needs to look resemble realism but I'm not into extreme detail- hence the lack of concern about realistic shadows or worry about following all the rules. Even so, I could have taken more time. I appreciate you comments bro, Richie |
