Subject: Waulking song Heather and Glen?
From: Sarah Kathleen

Hello, I’d love to have the lyrics or at least the titles to help search more for the Gaelic waulking songs, especially the second one, on the track called Dandling, Spinning, and Waulking songs on the Heather and Glen album. They’re attributed to Flora McNeill and others.
It’s an old track of Alan Lomax interviewing a group of women working singers, interpersed with their songs. These specific songs are named clearly in the cover, and I can’t understand Gaelic.
Thank you!
Sarah

Hello Sarah Kathleen,

This link should take you to the notes from the 'Heather and Glen' album ... https://www.theballadeers.com/cbtm/trad_1047_heather.htm

Also - this is a link to a Youtube video

My wife, Sandie, and I were privileged to meet and collaborate with Linn Phipps at the Morpeth Northumbrian Gathering in April. Linn has a passion for traditional music and especially for Gaelic song - she may be able to help you with understanding the songs ..

Hope this will help you in some small way.

With best wishes - Ken.
