Hi Barky, have a look through this site http://www.gre.ac.uk/~c.walshaw/abc/. There is a section on ABC software on that page.

One program that springs to mind (and has a link to it on that page) is Melody Assistant which is available for both PC and Mac. It is shareware but the unregistered version is functional. The last time I checked, the registered version was $15.
