Subject: Bill & Charley Monroe From: Doctor John Date: 09 Jan 01 - 04:42 PM Rounder Records have started to release CD's of the Monroe Brothers: the first is "What Would You Give in Exchange for Your Soul" - the sides recording in the 1930's. Titles like "My Long Journey Home" (frantic mandolin playing), Nine Pound Hammer, Foggy Mountain Top" etc. This is really wonderful stuff that has remained hidden for far too long. I just wonder what is still hidden out there and especially of performers that are more obscure than Bill Monroe.Dr John |
