McFADDEN'S TROTTING MARE
(Phil Rossiter/H. forrest Smith, Jr. - 1885)
Levy box 28 item 094

Mc-Fad-den was a sport-ing man,
a horse was his de-light,
He kept a sta-ble full of nags,
And watch'd them day and night;
But he had one that boss'd the track
from don-e-gal to Clare,
And far and near the sports held dear,
Mc-Fad-den's trot-ting mare.

The mare was blind in both her eyes,
her nose was off the track
they gave her cab-bage leaves to eat
her drink was ap-ple-jack
she went like thun-der when she liked
those times were might-y rare,
she was so stick, and few could lick
Mc-fad-den's trot-ting mare.

She trot-ted once with Jay Eye See
and Eye See prov'd a Jay,
she ran a tie with great Maud S
and won the prize next day:
So if you vis-it ra-ces,
and have an-y cash to spare
When on the track be sure you back
Mc-Fad-den's trot-ting mare!
