In line with my previous comments about Shepherdstown being the "Cultural Hub of the Western Hemishere," I present the following email blurb on an upcoming concert. [While the term Irish Night may seem a bit over-done, this is the third concert of the season, with the Hungarian (Harmonia) and Appalachian (Melvin Wine, Mike Seeger, and Critton Hollow) already done.]


Irish Night with Shepherdstown Music & Dance

      Liz Carroll on fiddle, Billy McComisky on accordion and Zan McLeod on guitar and Irish bouzouki will be combining their formidable musical talents for a night of Irish music Saturday, October 26th.

       Separately, they've played before presidents and prime ministers, won awards, fellowships and kudos from those in the business, and played with, written for and produced an impressive list of world-reknowned Celtic music peers.

      For smiling eyes as well as ears, they'll be bringing step dancers with their wild Irish feet. Join in the fun at Shepherd
College's Frank Center for the Performing Arts at 8:00 PM on October26th.

      Admission is $12 adults, $10 members and seniors, $6 children, $40 family maximum, and free with advance reservations (from Frank Center box office) for Shepherd College students with student ID.

      Directions to Historic Shepherdstown and the Shepherdstown Music and Dance International Concert Series events on the Shepherd College Campus.

      The Concert takes place at the Frank Performing Arts Center on the campus of Shepherd College in Shepherdstown, a small town overlooking the Potomac River in West Virginia's Eastern Panhandle. Drive time from the Washington and Baltimore beltways is about 75 minutes.

FROM WASHINGTION, DC (about 1.5 hrs): Take I-270 to Frederick Bypass, I-70; Take Exit 49, Turn Left on 40 Alt. to Braddock Hts.-Boonsboro; Turn Left in Boonsboro on MD 34 to Shepherdstown.

      FROM LEESBURG, VA (about 45 minutes): Take Route 7 to Route 9 through Charles Town, WV to Kearneysville; Turn Right on Route 480 to Shepherdstown.

      FROM I-81: Take Exit 16 East in Martinsburg; Take Route 45 to
Shepherdstown.

For those who would like to come but concerned about the long drive home, check out the Bavarian Inn, which overlooks the Potomac River and is an experience in itself.
