I have been searching for the title and artist of this song and I can't find it anywhere...the only phrase of the song that I know goes...
"and momma where were you when I needed you to pick me up, and daddy where were you when I needed a hug? Now sister and brother, have we become each other? Look at our pasts and look at our lovers.." the words "Let me be" are repeated throughout the song, so that may be the title but I have been unsuccessful in finding it...please help!

Any more hints about the song itself? Pop? Top 40? Trad-based? Sung by male, female, group? Approximate year?
Have you tried a search by the other phrases? "Let me be" probably has many hits but you might have better luck with "have we become each other?" or "Daddy, where were you when I needed a hug?"

AMG - All Music Guide lists 99 recordings of about 50 different songs called "Let Me Be." You might try browsing the list to see if anything looks familiar.

I have tried searching with Google for the lyrics you quoted, and found nothing.
