If Bill shot a documentary, I shot a commercial! Really I couldn't walk around with my camera, but once in a while thought of y'all who WEREN'T there and shot a few.

Also, they're not fancy - I haven't found a site to do this yet, but you can look at them one at a time. Thanks for your patience! When I get them posted on a site I'll add subtitles.

No need for any excuses, Dani. These are wonderful! #25 is a very good shot of the Adventure guitar in its finished form, BTW. Thanks.

And there's an excellent picture of Allan, Moon, Mick, and Bill too. They are all excellent...no need to apologize at all.....GREAT JOB!!!

CLICK HERE FOR DANI'S GREAT PICTURES

........But what's with the pervert in the dress leading those kids around? Did anyone call the police or check the "Child Molester Registration" site? I wouldn't have thought you'd allow a perp like that around............

Odd that.....I was just dropping back in for a few smartass comments starting with Irish guy's wake. Then there's "Fearless Leader" looking like his jockey's are too tight. As Big Rib's picture loaded, Karen asked who he was flipping the bird to. I didn't see any bricks nearby either and I thought there would be at least two for moon to stand on to kick a duck in the ass. I especially like the picture of Allan reacting to what???? Max's breath?

We DO have some lovely ladies around here though don't we? Jeri, you look wonderful, a beautiful sweater BTW, and that fiddle is very striking in the one photo.

I am still concerned about the guy in the dress with the kids. I understood that preeverts weren't allowed, which is why I stayed home.

Dani, you kept asking us to take photos with your camera and once again the photographer is short changed in the final count. But thinking of what somefolks might have photo'd.... They came out wonderfully. You've captured some great moments. Thanks for posting.

Because they aren't labelled, I should tell you that a large number of them were taken within the walls of the Mudcat cabin. The first night there was a hootnanny (Wow, I have never actually used that in a sentence before without talking about the TV show!) in the single men's room. The following evening RiB and I borrowed some chairs from the dining hall and set up in the common room. Both nights were great. I love that Dani took shots of virtually everyone who came to sing, play, or listen.

Alice is modestly speaking of a mug which features one of her own designs and can be found, along with many other examples of her abilities at:

Sorry to be obtuse. When I opened the jpg files, did they download anywhere on my hard drive? I need to know this because I have a computer of very little brain, and I have to be diligent about deleting stuff.

I was only able to look at about four of the pictures before my computer started grinding pretty bad, but from the ones I saw, it looks like you guys had a great time.

I should explain the photo of me by the tree - I don't dress like that most of the time. I had my jammie bottoms on, a pink nightie over that, and the sweater was because it was cold out. I went outside to do something ...er, maybe watch the piper, or...well, there must've been some reason I was wandering around out there. Aw hell, it was before noon and at least I had some clothing on.

Dani, a lily would have been a nice touch in the dead Mick photo.

Mick, how much is it worth to you for me to not make Spaw proud of you?

Dani - these are wonderful photos. Thank you for taking them and putting them up. That one of the piper and kids by the pond (#13) should be blown up to poster size!

Dani,

These pictures are fantastic! That digital camera sure works nice. The only one that's missing from all the pics is you. Next time we will be sure to take you up on taking over the role of photographer.

The wallpaper on my computer is the 'piper and kids shot - it makes me smile everytime I see it.

Catspaw, I will not have you talking bad about him. He was darling. Led the kids each morning in a stomping and tromp ing around camp to wake up stragglers, and it was follow-the-leader, doing everything he did. I went with them Saturday morning, and here's what happened: He gave seven kids penny whistles and said "If you blow too hard, all it will do is shriek; play it like this..." Well, what do YOU think they all did! As a bagpiper, he was awfully understanding. Then he put a small child in the lead for all to follow, and said small child loved to run. Our beloved 'piper then must run to catch up... AS HE CONTINUES TO PLAY! And I could barely run for laughing. Finally, he explained parade etiquette and all went well.

I'm not sure if this is the same small child Joe hosted on his lap at the campfire. He sure was cute, though!

CarolC, I will find out the answer to your question this afternoon. I am still learning my way around this stuff...

Carol -

My husband the computer weenie said that yes, they do take up a certain amount of space on your hard drive, but that if that causes your computer problems you have bigger problems than that. Wish I could say it in a gentler way, but there you are!

Come next year and see for yourself! See Mick's note in the Memories thread!

the jpg pictures go into a temporary 'cache'....and unless you 'save' them...that is, tell the computer to put them into a permanent spot, they will eventually be overwritten--just like cleaning out your closet now & then to make room for new clothes. If you try to save ALL your clothes or pictures, you will eventually run out of room...but it is true that 4 or 5 of those pictures are not likely to have been your problem, unless you had been online a long time, doing lots of stuff in Windows and THEN tried to do some big graphics!....Windows simply doesn't handle memory issues real well and even the best of us will have freezes and other problems and need to re-boot in order to clean up...*sigh*...

Thanks, Dani.

Are accordion players who don't sing allowed at the FSGW getaways?

Thanks Bill D. Does that mean that when I dumped my cache, I cleared out any traces of what was left on my hard drive when I looked at the pictures? I have to dump my cache pretty much every day.

At the getaway, non-singers are welcome, whether or not they play the accordion, and accordion players are welcome, whether or not they sing.

And Dani--great pictures. It only makes me jealous that I didn't know about what was going on in the Mudcatter's cabin. I was down in the dining hall, and thought the music-making was over and went to bed. Drat! Next year, I'll go looking.

And Catspaw--you were supposed to come last year (1999) and finked out at the last minute. I don't want you complaining about other people's costumes if your not there to dress up (or be nude) yourself.

well, sort of...eventually the space you 'clear' gets overwritten by other stuff....but traces DO remain for awhile...because...all you do when to say 'clear' or 'delete' is to tell your computer that you no longer want that area protected, and it is free to use it. Since new stuff is not the same size size & configuration, it may take awhile.

There ARE programs which can be told specifically to overwrite an area with random stuff..etc...in various degrees of 'wipe'...just like a cursory erasing of a blackboard versus washing it with water. (Sensitive materials in Govt. are sometimes treated like that. Lots of people have things they want to be SURE no one can find.)......I do think that if you 'defragment' your drive, it goes a long way towards writing over things.

Having said all that, it is not a simple task to find un-wiped data!. For most daily purposes a simple delete or cache clearing (dumping) will do...if you are seriously concerned about traces, you would need a program such as...ummm..BCWipe, I think it is. A nice program called PowerDesk, which does LOTS of other things also has a 'wipe' facility built in.

(Rita actually). This camp is the first one we've ever used for the Getaway that permits alcohol. However I'm sure what you saw was root beer.... or Pepsi in Guinness bottles.
