Subject: RE: Calling all Bonzo's freaks (BBC2 show) From: The Shambles Date: 28 Jul 04 - 06:54 AM I saw the show on BB4, enjoyed it but I found it a little sad. I loved the Bonzos but always felt that they never quite achieved....... Perhaps that is exactly why they and Viv are viewed with such affection? Are we all still waiting for a punchline - that will never be delivered? What instrument was Horace Batchelor (the inventor of the famous Inferdraw method)playing? |
Subject: RE: Calling all Bonzo's freaks (BBC2 show) From: Dave Masterson Date: 28 Jul 04 - 07:35 AM He must have been playing the Keynsham spelt K - E - Y ..... If Roger Ruskin-Spear could reach new horizons in sound on the electric shirt-collar, nothing is impossible! Are there any transatlantic Bonzo freaks out there, or are they all thinking the Brits have totally lost it at last? |

Subject: RE: Calling all Bonzo's freaks (BBC2 show) From: Les from Hull Date: 29 Jul 04 - 02:14 PM Yes I suppose it must be, Ray. I'm not sure where Viv would have heard him, unless he had some connection with Radio Luxemburg (like Horace Batchelor and Garner Ted Armstrong). |

Subject: RE: Calling all Bonzo's freaks (BBC2 show) From: Splott Man Date: 30 Jul 04 - 08:06 AM There's a story about Viv S and Keith Moon going into a boutique together once to browse, and eventually both deciding on the same pair of trousers. A tug-of-war ensued resulting in the trousers being torn down the middle. At which point a one-legged man (set up by them) comes into the shop and says something like "Just what I'm after" |
Subject: RE: Calling all Bonzo's freaks (BBC2 show) From: Roger the Skiffler Date: 30 Jul 04 - 08:25 AM Must get out my Best of Bonzos LP and give it a spin again. Loved Intro/Outro. The tune was, of course, C-Jam Blues, which I've probably got more recordings of in my jazz collection than I have House of the Rising Sun in my folk/blues collection. RtS |
Subject: RE: Calling all Bonzo's freaks (BBC2 show) From: Les from Hull Date: 30 Jul 04 - 10:05 AM Rog - Yes I ought to dust that one off again. |
Subject: RE: Calling all Bonzo's freaks (BBC2 show) From: The Shambles Date: 30 Jul 04 - 07:09 PM A tug-of-war ensued resulting in the trousers being torn down the middle. At which point a one-legged man (set up by them) comes into the shop and says something like "Just what I'm after" A likely story but: I remenber spending a lot of time finding out about the best pair of binoculars, for the best price, a friend having asked me to. I reported back and few weeks later he proudly showed me a monocular he had obtained (for half the price). In all my detailed research, I had overlooked the obvious fact that my friend had only one eye! Absolutly true so perhaps the trouser story was also? |
