Subject: RE: Frog prince thoughts and prayers for my wife From: frogprince Date: 29 Jun 12 - 06:38 PM Doin' fine, folks. We had a home care aid here for the first time today; I think she will do fine, and give my head some welcome chance to stop spinning. A visiting nurse also came and fine-tuned the medication regime a bit. We've spent some time the last couple of mornings at the local Tim Horton's (Yes, they do exist in the U.S.) drinking coffee and jawing with friends, just like in real life. We're driving there for now, instead of walking the mile and back. But we've been strolling a ways down our street. |
Subject: RE: Frog prince thoughts and prayers for my wife From: gnu Date: 29 Jun 12 - 06:57 PM Warms my heart, froggy. Thanks for the update. But, Tim's coffee? Yech! Ya know... back when they had wooden stir sticks, Tim's actually paid pigeons to collect the stir sticks from the parking lot and streets nearby and bring em back so Tim's could make more coffee by boiling em eh? Tasted better the second time around if the winged rats shit on them. Yeah, I know. >;-) |
Subject: RE: Frog prince thoughts and prayers for my wife From: Bobert Date: 29 Jun 12 - 07:34 PM Well, if Judy has yer head spinnin', that's a good thing, f-prince... "Hey Jude"... Keep him guessin'... It's what women do... B;~) |

Subject: RE: Frog prince thoughts and prayers for my wife From: GUEST Date: 29 Jun 12 - 11:03 PM Yay for good news! And I gotta agree with gnu about Tim's coffee. |

Subject: RE: Frog prince thoughts and prayers for my wife From: gnu Date: 30 Jun 12 - 01:40 PM Tami... Think of the poor pigeons. Ya just know a lot of them didn't have the brains to pick up the stir sticks by the end not stained with coffee and Tim's paid them with stale donuts. I live about 200m from a Tim's. Pigeons were always flying into windows around here... mouldy donuts. |
Subject: RE: Frog prince thoughts and prayers for my wife From: Nigel Paterson Date: 01 Jul 12 - 04:23 AM The progress that Judy is making is heartening reading on a sunny, Sunday morning, here in London. Returning to those 'personal normalities', the trips to the coffee shop, all the domestic routines, the day to day stuff to which we gave little thought (it wasn't necessary), now become markers on the road to recovery. Based on my own experiences, the (apparently) mundane actually forms a significant part of the bedrock to our relationships. It's only when we can't perform them, or they are taken away that we realise how much they mean to us. I'm waiting for your post where you tell us you WALKED to Tim Horton's. Wishing You Both the very best of Weekends, With Love, Nigel & Ann. xxxxxxxxxx |

Subject: RE: Frog prince thoughts and prayers for my wife From: frogprince Date: 06 Jul 12 - 07:11 PM H'lo all. It's almost hard to believe that life is this good again. On the 4th we picked up some KFC chicken & drove to a nearby lakeshore recreation area to picnic and loaf in the shade and read, then came back into town for fireworks. Too hot to have Judy walking outside here today, so we drove to the big Meijers store a few minutes away and strolled the aisles. We walked by far the most that we have since she's been home, and she remained comfortable with it. Two routine "follow-up" doctor's appointments yesterday. All good word except: we knew that her kidney function started to drop off a couple of days after the attack, then leveled. But I hadn't caught the actual reading of just 25% where she has been since. The doctor isn't really afraid for her unless she drops further, but we hope she gains back some more safe margin. |
Subject: RE: Frog prince thoughts and prayers for my wife From: gnu Date: 06 Jul 12 - 07:54 PM Great that she's doing so well and I sure hope that kidney business works out okay. |
Subject: RE: Frog prince thoughts and prayers for my wife From: Bobert Date: 06 Jul 12 - 08:04 PM Great news... Like I said earlier, onward and upward... I'm seein' an all night zesty session in ya'll's future... B;~) |
Subject: RE: Frog prince thoughts and prayers for my wife From: ChanteyLass Date: 06 Jul 12 - 08:45 PM Since it would probably be a very good thing for her kidney function to improve, I'll direct some prayers that way. I'm glad she is able to walk so much. |
Subject: RE: Frog prince thoughts and prayers for my wife From: Janie Date: 06 Jul 12 - 10:27 PM Rejoicing in her recovery and continuing to hold Judy and you close in my thoughts and meditations, Dean. Janie |
Subject: RE: Frog prince thoughts and prayers for my wife From: katlaughing Date: 06 Jul 12 - 10:47 PM Brother DDean.:-) that is wonderful news! Kidneys are tricky but a good doc knows how to keep one on an even keel and even improve sometimes. Early days, yet, so maybe you'll get another "rapid response" and rejoice for even more healing. Giving thanks for this or something better for the highest good of all concerned. luvyakat |
Subject: RE: Frog prince thoughts and prayers for my wife From: Nigel Paterson Date: 07 Jul 12 - 03:54 AM Dear Dean & Judy, Ann & I are so happy to hear about Judy's progress. She's come a long way since you first posted. I think our motto for the weekend has to be: "Drive when you need to...walk when you don't". Wishing Judy a continuing recovery & sending you both, much Love. With Love, Nigel & Ann. xxxxxxxxxx |

Subject: RE: Frog prince thoughts and prayers for my wife From: Big Al Whittle Date: 07 Jul 12 - 05:42 AM You know the old Kinks song - Thankyou for the Days - that's how me and Denise have lived for yesrs - since she got ill in her twenties. In England we are all held captive indoors by savage rainstorms at the moment. Its great just to be together and drive out to some cliff top cafe and enjoy a cup of coffee together, and enjoy the view. Some people never have one day filled with such love. We have had many. Hold these days close to your heart FP - they are some of the best. |
Subject: RE: Frog prince thoughts and prayers for my wife From: Nigel Paterson Date: 08 Jul 12 - 01:22 AM Big Al, you should write a book entitled something like: "Life according to Al". It's all there, in miniature, beautifully expressed in your post above. If more people lived their lives like you & Denise, the World really would be a happier place. With Love, Nigel & Ann. xxxxxxxxxx |

Subject: RE: Frog prince thoughts and prayers for my wife From: frogprince Date: 10 Jul 12 - 10:18 PM We "upped" our walking distance another couple of blocks this evening. First cardiologist appointment since discharge tomorrow afternoon. We'll see if he wants her to do outpatient cardio rehab. I've been hoping to get lined up to start taking her for some cognitive therapy. Our quality of life is mostly so good again now that I barely give a hoot, but I'm sure she will be a bit happier if she can find it a little easier to manage details. |
Subject: RE: Frog prince thoughts and prayers for my wife From: gnu Date: 10 Jul 12 - 10:35 PM I hope it goes well, froggy. |

Subject: RE: Frog prince thoughts and prayers for my wife From: frogprince Date: 11 Jul 12 - 02:56 PM I'm married to a genius! Twice this morning, she has looked at the clock and mentioned the correct time!. Not sure she is totally reliable on that yet, but this is the first that she has done better than "ten minutes to...something". She has been so much herself for so long now that the time problem, and other little glitches, seem incongruous. |
