Messers Fielding, Laskin, and Mills heated up the Tranzac tonight. It was wonderful to see the lads egging one another on in beween great songs and plenty of fine picking. Peter T was there and I got to meet Flattop again and Carol C for the first time. Just a nice warm evening all the way around.

Yeah, I was just curious about what PT looked like nekkid. I know the act was good....three very talented friends and all, but let's get down to the real stuff here.

T'was a fun night all around. The lads and I tried to rehearse beforhand, but I'm afraid a LOT of improvising went on during the two sets. Grit's dad joined in on bones, and decided to entertain the crowd (and embarrass Grit) with a heartfelt testimonial to how proud he is of his son...ending with a fatherly kiss on the top of Grit's little noggin! One thing happened that was a first for me. At the end of the first set we moved from the "lower stage" to the high riser, in order to be seen better. We simply didn't count on the place being jammed...which was a treat.

Yours truly made his share of mistakes...including killing the heroine off (In Banks of the Ohio) BEFORE asking her Mother's permission to take her out!

Anyway, thanks to the Mudcatters who joined the throng. I had a great time.

Rick

Nope Clinton...but I got a couple of serious hugs from Carol C........and that's a LOT better than a poke in the eye with a sharp Shtick!

I'm so sorry that I missed it. I had every intention of going, was looking forward to hearing these guys again, I had a ball the last time I saw them. I was also wanting to put some faces to Mudcat names. But the thought of seeing Peter T. naked scared me off. Seriously, I had a family crisis to deal with.

What's on the show tonight Rick?

Steve

Rick,

Nothing we can't get through, but it might take a while.

I'm just leaving Markham now to try to get to Whitby. With any luck I'll be home before your show starts, if not I'll put it on the car.

I for one have had enough of Winter.

Great show and too much modesty! We knew it would be packed!

As Rick pointed out, Grit's Father was superb - now we know who to have as guest MC when Grit performs at the Cloud again!

Nice putting faces to names, as well.

The snow is really coming down - good luck Steve!!

Query is Grit the Grit Laskin who wrote Lucky Man? If so, I think it is a brilliant song,I have learnt it and hope to sing it in public in U.K.

Wonderful concert. I'm not supposed to say too much about it. Carol wants to write about her trip when she arrives home. I will say that the music was great, that we enjoyed meeting mudcatters and finding out that Rana who should be working is also Rana who rhymes with banana.

Grit's dad was a charming addition to the festivities. Spry, witty, loving toward Grit - and with his own irrepressible ideas of how things should proceed - and he sure could play them bones!

From what Grit's mother said, I believe Grit's dad was 82 years old and Sunday night was his stage debut. He seemed trilled and would probably happily spend the next 20 years on the road with his backup group, Rick, Grit, and Paul.

As usual life's activities got in my way and I couldn't make it down - friggin prioreties. Darn- theses are 3 of my favorite Toronto musicians and all around folkies who inspire the heck out of me. I'm sure it was great - and I hope there will be another one of these evenings in the future.

Well 'Gin, I personally don't care, but the word was he was coming nekkid and I wondered if anyone actually noticed. The fact that only Peter responded would indicate that it was either one helluva' concert or PT is no big deal............probably both.

I'm writing like....this....because I think it bugs Rick.

Rick, What's the Banks of the Ohio verse in which the lover asks the mother for the daughter's hand? It didn't sound familiar and I don't see such a verse in DT. I;m always looking for ways to expand a good song.

The concert was worth a trip to Canada, even if I hadn't been blessed with an entire month in that fine country.

Spaw, when meeting Peter T., one is so profoundly dazzled with his mental brilliance, it is difficult to notice whether or not he is clothed.

Sorry 'Dough, pushed submit before answering your question.

"I asked your mother, for you dear.

But she said that girl's too young.

Only say with me you'll go,

Happiness I'm sure you'll know."

I killed her off before getting to that verse!!

Believe my source on that was either Ed McCurdy, or Charlie Waller.

Rick
