Subject: Jim Lad's Spring Cleaning From: Jim Lad Date: 08 Apr 07 - 01:47 PM I've just spent the week upgrading the artwork on my albums. This leaves me with some old stock to get rid of. If you go here and have a look in my store, you'll find them. Going for a song, you might say! I really hope this isn't too pushy. Cheers Jim |

Subject: RE: Jim Lad's Spring Cleaning From: katlaughing Date: 17 Apr 07 - 02:41 PM Jaysus, Jim! I know I listened to a few of your songs online, but they did not prepare me for the "real deal!' Just got your CDs, thank yew SO MUCH!!! Outstanding, the best I've heard of many songs, ever. I love your arrangements, your picking and your better half's fiddling, your voice, rendition, etc., etc.!!! I could name all of them as my favourites, but the ones that stand out, so far (I'm still listening!) are Streets of London, Dunbarton's Drums, The Singing Bird, Peter Kagan and the Wind (chills!!) and yer own, The Hills of Magaree. You have stirred up my almost inconsolable longing for the highlands of my ancestors, that which runs through my blood and my heart, and memories of the Past in other lives. I had to explain to Wee Red that my tears were from the overflowing Beauty of your songs which filled my heart and that I was *okay* and not sad, but grateful and oh so happy to listen and sing along. Your gift will always be cherished and never, ever forgotten. Thank you, so much! Folks, if you missed out on this offer, you missed out on Treasures, BUT you can still purchase them, too, and they are well worth it! luvyakat |

Subject: RE: Jim Lad's Spring Cleaning From: Jim Lad Date: 17 Apr 07 - 04:36 PM I just had a whole winter like that, Jacqui. Please tell me you're not using the generator for your computer. |
Subject: RE: Jim Lad's Spring Cleaning From: jacqui.c Date: 17 Apr 07 - 04:41 PM Nope - I'm at SINSULL'S house, using her computer. Mine isn't on the circuit that the generator is serving and our ISP is down as well at the moment. It's good to have friends! |
Subject: RE: Jim Lad's Spring Cleaning From: Jim Lad Date: 17 Apr 07 - 06:19 PM I should clarify, MMario: Three albums sold immediately after Kat wrote, this afternoon. Her word is not taken lightly, I'm sure. Good luck with the power outage, Jacqui. |
Subject: RE: Jim Lad's Spring Cleaning From: katlaughing Date: 17 Apr 07 - 09:46 PM And, I meant every word. My listening was interrupted for nap time, but have just listened, again, to Peter Kagan, the whole of it with tears running down my face. The fiddle is such an integral part of it, yet not obtrusive and Jim, your voice and delivery, is, well...words fail me. It is in my heart, a great stirring of emotions, ancient emotions. Thanks is all I have but it's not enough... kat |
Subject: RE: Jim Lad's Spring Cleaning From: katlaughing Date: 17 Apr 07 - 09:51 PM BTW, I didn't find the lyrics for Peter Kagan and the Wind when I did a supersearch. Would you mind posting them, in their own thread, sometime, please? Also, you might find the lyrics of THE PATTERN of interest. While it is nothing like Peter Kagan, it has in common the theme of Scottish fishermen and losses at sea. It was written by folks I know in Montana. If you'd like the tune, let me know. |

Subject: RE: Jim Lad's Spring Cleaning From: Jim Lad Date: 18 Apr 07 - 11:29 AM Why would I possibly mind. I remember Gordon Bok saying that he'd never have a web-site but that was 10 years ago when the internet was still coal fired. Nice to know that it caught up with him. Thank yous for the kind words. |

Subject: RE: Jim Lad's Spring Cleaning From: Jim Lad Date: 18 Apr 07 - 04:07 PM Katlaughing: Your book arrived today. I've slipped it back into the envelope and am hoping that Brenda can't tell that I've opened it. She'll want to thank you herself. I'll just have to keep her away from this thread, that's all. I stole a look at a few pages and really enjoyed it but I don't want to put a crease on the spine or she'll know. Great stuff. I'll say more after I'm allowed to read it. Cheers. Jim. |

Subject: RE: Jim Lad's Spring Cleaning From: Jim Lad Date: 18 Apr 07 - 06:33 PM Sandra in Sydney: If that was you, you've just bought the first copy of "Jim Brannigan's Favourites" from CD Baby. Thank You. Jim |
Subject: RE: Jim Lad's Spring Cleaning From: Jim Lad Date: 19 Apr 07 - 01:05 AM Ah Sandra: It was you. I used to go down to a wee Irish club near where you are. Enjoy. Stewart & Leo: Your albums were mailed today. Thank You. Jim |
Subject: RE: Jim Lad's Spring Cleaning From: Sandra in Sydney Date: 19 Apr 07 - 03:28 AM Jim - it was a bit hard to get a Canadian money order! So I settled for another CD from the wonderful folks at CD-Baby. now all I have to do is wait (patiently) what was the club? sandra |
Subject: RE: Jim Lad's Spring Cleaning From: Jim Lad Date: 19 Apr 07 - 10:48 AM Interesting. I received verification that the daughter of a president has purchased one. CD Baby is in U>S> funds, I think. There was/is a wee Irish Club across from the Press Club, down by the station. Everyone, Chieftains, Dubliners, Clancy & Makem used to pop in there after their concerts. (Back in the seventies) |
Subject: RE: Jim Lad's Spring Cleaning From: Sandra in Sydney Date: 24 Apr 07 - 03:53 AM The Gaelic Club? It's still around, I was last there a few years back for Denis Kevan's wake, but since it renovated it has lots of music other than Irish (loud! amplified!!) in the huge downstairs area. Upstairs is still the old club, tho the website doesn't mention it! And it still has sessions & is still frequented by Irish people. I'm listening to your 'Favourites'- CD-Baby delived it today with their usual efficiency & I'm playing it for the second time. Kat is not wrong, it's great, so I'll just play it again sandra |

Subject: RE: Jim Lad's Spring Cleaning From: GUEST Date: 24 Apr 07 - 11:23 PM Thank You Sandra. You're my first, Love. Grin. Jim Lad (Not Signed In) |

Subject: RE: Jim Lad's Spring Cleaning From: Sandra in Sydney Date: 11 May 07 - 05:01 AM well, the "Favourites" album was so great, I bought all his other albums. Love that voice! I've listened to each one at least 4 times & they are fantastic. Why does "Four O'clock in the morning" sound like I've known it for years? Isle au Haut, Kilkelly, Lowlands, Town I Loved, Jacobites - all wonderful versions. rave, rave, rave sandra (satisfied customer) |
