It's that time of year when it's warm enough to get the tent out, find a good Yorkshire pub on a Saturday night and join in with the folkies inside. Any suggestions people?

Should have been out last week - you could have been at the Black Dog, Camblesforth, for the Yorkshire Gathering... it was bloody brilliant!

Currently talking about doing something similar to what we did at Blacksmiths Arms Farlington last June and September. Just sorting some practical bits out to make sure we have enough room etc

Let you know soon how we get on

Any ideas on dates? I would guess we are probably looking at September-ish

Hey Nick - I might be interested in that one!

Mick has a gig down south one weekend in September so I do hope it won't clash.

Raggy -

I will by all means start another thread

BUT...

how it's thread drift when we are in the process of organising a weekend in a Yorkshire pub with music and camping - like the weekend in a Yorkshire pub with music and camping that we did last year.

Relevance is about 100% wouldn't you think?

Black Bull Bender is a good weekend and we may perhaps see some others there.

Back to RH Bay does anyone know if the Stoupe Cross camp site is still open? I seem to recall some doubt about it on a previous mudcat thread.

The Helwith Bridge at Helwith Bridge a small Hamlet between Stainforth & Horton In Ribblesdale just over the bridge on The Austwick Rd. Colin the landlord is always up for a session, the pub has a good range of real ales (the current Keighley & Craven CAMERA pub of the season)and food, there is camping in an ajoining field (£2.50)and a caving club bunk house yards away as well as accomidation at the pub.

Stoupes Cross will probably be closed all season due to illness, Whitny Holiday Park next door is not taking tents, there are two oyher sites that I know of nearer to the Fabled City of Bay, one on the hill just outside on the road to Whitby (PM Ossenflags he has stayed there and might have contact numbers) the other is at Fylingthorpe and is called Middlewich Farm, I think they have a web site

I'm organising a smallish session/weekend 17-19 June
at Danby North Yorkshire with a strong Northumbrian theme.
It will on a farm (some accomo available cheap) and in a local pub in a hidden location.
Ok it clashes with Beverley.
Any musicians interested please contact me off line
Cheers
Ged

Hardraw Gathering '05 - July 29th-31st
There's been a hasty rearrangement of this event. One set of organisers bowing out, another set taking the reins at short notice.
The mini-folk-fest based around the Green Dragon Public House (up at its lovely setting by Hardraw Force!) will STILL go ahead in '05. Landlord Mark Thompson has handed control to Steve Fairholme (he that has run the successful Black Sheep Otley Fest since its inception)
Last year's event, which was almost exclusively 'concert-based' from start to finish, has been dropped in favour of a more 'participation-based' format. There'll still likely be a pay-on-the door 'folk-club' style concert in the large back room on the Friday evening and a similar concert (featuring a major name) on the Saturday evening.
At ALL other times over the weekend there will be sing-a-rounds, musicians sessions and dance teams on the go.
These will take place for FREE! (well, perhaps a 'donation-bucket' will get passed around!) in the subsidiary rooms, main bar and outside in the grounds (where there's a bandstand!) and will likely be 'loosely led' by well known names from the folk scene.
The Gathering will announce its FULL spec on a NEW website for '05 up and running at www.hardrawgathering.com (NOT .co.uk as it was last year)
And there's a campsite behind the pub AND another next door!
