Is Trig Point 49 the former Church Fellowship camp I attended with the church choir in the late 50s? That was at the top of the village.

info pretty hard to come , is there a web site for this event?
Staithes is a cracking spot for a weekend of music , hoping to get across for at least part of the weekend. I have just released a CD with many of the songs inspired by the sea and Staithes as that is where my family made a living from the sea and mining from the 1600's to the early 1900's Cheers Mark

Hope you do make it it sounds a brilliant idea.
Never been to Staithes until last year.
Then I was so busy looking at the veiw I missed all the huge signs that said park up at the top and we drove down.
Is a bit like driving into some of the cornish fishing villages we have been too.
not a lot of room at the bottom is there hehe.

This excellent website shows you what to expect. Staithes, like all seaside hamlets on this part of the coast is extremely picturesque.

Nutty ,
Give my apologies to Tony - I don't come home from Norway til 25th
I imagine the craic will be good ,(I can do without jazz bands though).
A lot of people associate Capt.James Cook with Whitby , but Staithes is where he "cut his teeth" taking coal boats down to London.
On your link there's a picture of the terraced cottage where he used to live . Just an ordinary man ? One of the most remarkable in British History I'd say .

Cheers,
Betsy.

Hey just got back was great weekend lots beer, lots new friends lots music, sessions until Half five in morning.
Got to jam with some brilliant musicians, boys and girls with so many years experience and tremendous depth of knowledge of their musical traditions.
Met a lady who was at the Brandy wharf sessions a few weeks ago and was brave and asked her how many songs she has,Hundreds all in one lasses head and she was not the only one there either.
We heard everything from geordy dialect songs to Elvis,Irish, scots and welsh tunes and songs.
Met our first ever professional lady bass player and she was absolutly lovely joined in when Jen and I played and asked us to play when she did.
FOr those who have never been Staithes is a beautiful place to see dont just drive past next time you are on that part of the coast go for a walk and do yourself a favour.
If Tony has his way next years will be even better with more of the local pubs and cafes offering the use of their premises ,some out of hours Just for us.
Cheers Tony and Dennis and Dave and shaun and bev and Tim and anne marie and carol and .............
All of you.
