A 90 minute drive - luxury!! - I left home at 1:45pm on Saturday and arrived back at 8:30pm on Monday to see the film on Sunday!!

Has anyone noticed the advert for Nestle whole grain breakfast cereals? I suspect the Morris world has now (because of the film) penetrated the speedy marketing fraternity. I don't knock the trend - the ad will make Morris tunes and dancing that bit more "normal" in the eyes of the average pleb.

The Plough in Torrington (North Devon) is the place to be on Friday 13th November if you want to see 'the film'. Exmoor Border Morris and Bideford Phoenix will be dancing beforehand.

The plebs I refer to are the likes of the panelists on the "News Quiz" (think "Have I got News for You" without pictures)

On a programme a few years back they started laughing just at the word Morris, not what followed. I am not exagerating. When I e-mailed them and pondered the situation, adding - 'are they not proud to be English?', they replied "None of us are English". AFAIK they were all British (or UK citizens at least). And all of them Uni graduates.
I don't ever see them laughing at the words "Irish Dance" or Scottish etc.

Now call me dismissive but "pleb" is the politest word for people who can laugh at a single word. It is not metaphore, it is supercilious.

I don't think anyone has mentioned it so far (and I have looked) it will be shown in Sheffield - Showroom Cinema - for four nights beginning Boxing Day. The brochure for December isn't out yet - but it is supposed to be on - I asked at the cinema.

It's coming all the way out to little old New Zealand!!!
And it'll be at our local theatre from 10th December!!
And they have asked our Morris side 'Heart of the Sun', (also known as HOTS), to dance at a special opening with wine and cheese thrown in.
Plus, we each get a free double pass!!
We'll be there with bells on!

It is even being shown in a pub - I assume the Plough is a pub. With all the pub closures this has to be a welcome trend.

Never assume, Mr Red, never assume!!! The Plough is the local Arts Centre and a super one it is too.
Despite flooding and fallen trees all around - it was Friday 13th, after all - the Centre was full to capacity.
A great evening.

It got another Scottish showing during the Scottish Trad Awards weekend in Dumfries last weekend, but it was on at the same time as the actual Awards ceremony, so really only for those that couldn't get a ticket for the Awards!

Just arrived home from seeing it at the Hawke's Bay premiere and dancing in the theatre as well.
I'm still in kit!
We loved it - laughed most of the way through (except the sad bit in the middle).
Lots of subtle humour (and not so subtle as well).
The non-folkie people in the audience seemed to think it was a serious documentary at first but our whole side was laughing so much the others soon realised it wasn't serious.
It seems to be on all round NZ from Thursday, 10th December. I asked how long it was being shown for and the answer seems to be that depends on the audience size and demand - maybe one week, maybe more.
It looks great on the big screen but now I'd like a DVD to watch it at home.

We were in Lincoln last week-end and noticed that the local HMV shop had the CD of the film on its shelves.

When I had previously gone to order it from HMV they stated they would not sell it in their shops (only through their website)because there was no demand.

Have they seen the light and now realise that not everyone buys via the Internet

Any further word on DVD production/distribution and/or U.S. East Coast showings? My Pacific Northwest friends were able to watch it in Seattle, but I suspect my best hope in Maine is to acquire the DVD, find somebody with a big-screen television and a player, and make a lot of popcorn.
