Subject: Lyr Add: I'VE GONE AND LOST MY LITTLE YOYO From: Mr Happy Date: 11 Mar 08 - 09:20 AM Banned by the BBC in 1932, here's the full and unexpurgated version! I'VE GONE AND LOST MY LITTLE YOYO I've gone and lost my little yoyo. Hello, old chap. You're looking miserable. So would you be miserable. I'm sad and disappointed. I'm as sore as I can be. When the missus finds what's happened, She'll be more upset than me. There'll be no peace for me at home. It's sure to cause some strife. I've lost the only thing that seems to charm our married life. I had it when I left the house at half past ten. I had it in me hand alright. I showed it to a woman at the corner then. It filled her with delight. The wife'll want to play with it when I get home, But I can't find it, oh, no. It means we'll have to part. It’s sure to break her heart. When she finds I've gone and lost me little yoyo. I did all kinds of tricks with it, could trail it on the ground. I could swing it up and swing it down and swing it round and round. I'll have to get another one, no matter what it costs. It may not please the missus like the one I've gone and lost. I had it when I left the house at half past ten. I had it in me hand alright. I showed it to a woman at the corner then. It filled her with delight. The wife'll want to play with it when I get home. But I can't find it, oh no. She'll take the only course and sue for a divorce When she finds I've gone and lost me little yoyo. I showed it to Matilda. She’s the barmaid at the Crown. I taught her how to play with it and swing it up and down. It fairly took her fancy. P’raps she's stolen it from me. I dare not tell the wife in case it causes jealousy. I had it when I left the house at half past ten. I had it in me hand alright. I showed it to a woman at the corner then. It filled her with delight. The wife'll want to play with it when I get home. But I can't find it, oh no. She'll miss it, there's no doubt, and she's sure to throw me out When she finds I've gone and lost me little yoyo. |

Subject: Lyr Add: I'VE GONE AND LOST MY LITTLE YOYO From: Jim Dixon Date: 12 Mar 08 - 10:36 PM You can hear this version at YouTube. According to the note posted with this song, the performers are The Rhythm Rascals--actually Jay Wilbur & His Band--with vocalist Bobbie Comber. I have boldfaced the words that are different from the above version. I'VE GONE AND LOST MY LITTLE YOYO [SPOKEN:] I can't find it anywhere. I've looked on the what-not, Under the chiffonier, in the chest of drawers. I'm sad and disappointed. I'm as sore as I can be. When the missus finds what's happened, she'll be more upset than me. There'll be no peace for me at home. It's sure to cause a row. I didn't want to tell her, but I'll have to tell her now. I had it when I left the house at half past ten. I had it with me quite all right. I showed it to a p'liceman at the corner then. He laughed with all his might. The wife'll want to have a game when I get home, but I can't find it, oh, no. It's my unlucky day. Whatever will she say When she finds I've gone and lost me little yoyo? I got so good at yoyo, could trail it on the ground. I could walk the dog and slick(?) the loop and swing it round and round. I'm simply lost without it. I must get another soon. Because I'm in a competition Saturday afternoon. I had it when I left the house at half past ten. I had it on the string all right. I showed it to some people at the corner then. It filled them with delight. The wife'll ask me where it is when I get home, but I can't find it, oh, no. I know we'll have to part. She's sure to break her heart When she finds I've gone and lost me little yoyo. |
