Subject: Best Southern Blues Venues From: bill.kolter@biometmail.com Date: 26 May 99 - 03:01 PM I'm taking a tour of the south this Summer (Memphis, Clarksdale and other Mississippi points, New Orleans, Austin), in search of the south's best blues. Can any give me the names and locations of the best and most historical blues venues and landmarks in these areas. Can anyone out there help? If so, please e-mail me at bill.kolter@biometmail.com or post here. Thanks. |
Subject: RE: Best Southern Blues Venues From: Roger in Baltimore Date: 26 May 99 - 06:43 PM When you go to Memphis, go to Beale Street downtown. In just a few blocks you will find several blues clubs. There is also a Blues Museum in Memphis you may find interesting. If you get hungry, I can vouch for great "ribs" at Corky's. They are not downtown, but their ribs are worth going out of your way. Of course, Sun Studios is in Memphis. There is not much to see there (just three rooms), but if you want to walk on hallowed linoleum that's one place to go in Memphis. Big RiB |

Subject: RE: Best Southern Blues Venues From: catspaw49 Date: 26 May 99 - 11:52 PM Anybody else got a Top Ten vacation list? In mine is New Orleans. My company sent me there for two months to reorganize the region...don't remember much else about reoganizing, but EVERYTHING about my free time ( I think that was about 23 hours per day). IDEAL VACATION: Take 7 or 8 grand, Stay at the Royal Orleans, Listen to great music, and Eat til the money runs out or you explode...whichever comes first. Don't forget the clubs out on Pontchartrain either including a joint over in Slidell. catspaw |
