Subject: Obit: Baxter Black dies aged 77 From: Rex Date: 12 Jun 22 - 01:18 PM I knew he wasn't well but this was not expected. The world was lucky this guy came around. We were lucky to get to know him a bit. Just to be clear, Baxter started his career as a guitar picking singing cowboy. And he was always up to strum some of those songs when the shows were over. Baxter Black, America’s Popular Cowboy Poet, Has Died |

Subject: RE: Obit: Baxter Black dies aged 77 From: Stilly River Sage Date: 12 Jun 22 - 04:27 PM I've loved his work over the years. Vegetarian's Nightmare on Johnny Carson (mis-labled "Jerry Dion") is classic. The prognosis of dementia is particularly cruel for someone noted for his wit. |

Subject: Obit: Baxter Black From: Rapparee Date: 26 Jun 22 - 08:48 PM Baxter Black, cowboy poet, sometime musician and guitarist, large animal veterinarian, and NPR personality died June 10, 2022 of a leukemia and a recent dementia. I looked but didn't see anything about this on the 'Cat. I spoke with him a couple of times (by phone) and he struck me as an all-around great guy. He has a number of videos on Youtube. |

Subject: RE: Obit: Baxter Black From: Stilly River Sage Date: 26 Jun 22 - 09:20 PM I posted it on a different site and Mudcat must have been down or I'd have put it here. His work was genius. This is a great example of his work: The Vegetarian's Nightmare. |
